    LD4B installation on a 75 318

Thanks for the continuing follow up posts! I plan to look over my kickdown linkage as I am not getting a downshift at cruising speed. One question I do have for you though is this: Lastly, the kickdown MUST have a return spring on it. Not just on the carburetor, but also on the kickdown...

What happened to the 318 in 1971?

I was looking over my old Motors Manuals yesterday and while looking the specs of the 318 I noted that for 1970 and prior years the cylinder compression was 140 psi and compression ratio was either 9.2 or 8.8. Beginning in 1971 the compression ratio dropped to 8.6 and compression was listed at...

What type of K frame do you have? From your description it sounds like you have spools and biscuits mixed up... A '71 would have had biscuit mounts unless it has been changed along the way. C

    Whine when Revving

If you haven't tore it down yet, you could remove the fan belt(s) that drive the water pump. I wouldn't run it long but you could determine right off if that is where the whine is coming from. C

Got off my butt, worked on my garbage.....

I had to work yesterday :wack: and had to drive a couple hours away for the job. Coming home I got caught in some rain, not particularly heavy, but enough to puddle in the road. It was the first time in the rain in the new company car, a 2012 Malibu. It was all over the road! I have never...

    questions about pulleys and fan

Looks like you have identified the parts alright. Did they all come off the same engine? If so, they should work. If it is a mixed set acquired here and there, you might want to install them first to see if they line up correctly. C

    Timing Chain Tensioner 318/360

Well, my '99 V-6 Dakota has 150,000 miles now and my son's has 200,000. No noise that I can hear from the timing chains. As far as "beating it to death", since the pressure is constant to keep the chain tight, I don't think there is any "beating" being done. I did put one on my 318 in the...
