    Clutch pedal travel

I spoke to Brewers about my clutch. I bought their 10" three fingered clutch. He made me understand this: The adjustment is critical. The throwback on the pedal starts when the pressure plate pushes back when you release the pedal. Adjust the clutch to where the T.O. Bearing just clear the...

    What 833 gear/diff lube?

Jim: Remember Pat Paulsen? Ran for President --- like two or three times? I loved that guy! Got his autograph on a bottle of his wine. He had a winery in Sonoma in his later years. I'm with you ... its too bad nowadays, you gotta research this stuff yourself, because its "foreign" to the...

Reputable West Coast 727 rebuilder ????

Call Steve at Macy Transmission in Martinez on Pacheco Blvd, google him up. Ex-drag racer, ran Mopars. Good guy, shop is always full, which is a good sign. He`s done an A903 and a four speed for me, and he`ll let you pick his brain.

    Bent drive shaft?

Just had U-joints and a balance done on my '66. Wasn't bent, no problems. Maybe its a chronic problem, but I've never heard that before.

    Starter Inop w/904 Trans

I pulled the switch and it checked out OK. So it HAD to be the adjustment in the cable. I got back under the car, gave the cable a good yank just to make sure it interlocked with the lever inside the transmission, and.... IT FELL OUT! The cable was never locked in, never shifted into neutral...

    Starter Inop w/904 Trans

OK, Fishy68, I tried adjusting the cable with the ohmeter hooked up. Ignition was off, key laying on the dash. My ohmeter read a constant 12V as I adjusted the cable from full-in to full-out. The way I read my schematic, it shouldn't matter if the ignition switch is on or not, correct? (My...

    Starter Inop w/904 Trans

I bypassed the neutral safety switch, and the starter engaged! My guess is the cable needs to be reset, but I'll play it safe tomorrow and pull the switch anyways to bench test it. I think eventually I'll be pulling the pan again to bullseye the location of the cable to the neutral setting...

    Starter Inop w/904 Trans

Looking for help before I pull the tranny pan off. I replaced the o-ring at the end of the shifter cable and also the transmission pan gasket on my 904 to cure leak issues. Filled it with fluid, found no leaks, then went to start it. Starter would not make a sound. I figure it had to do with...

    64 Valiant Rear End

First off, welcome! Red convertible has lots of potential, should be a fun project. My guess is with the V8, you've got the 7 1/4" rear end with a 2.76(? I think it is) ratio, so it shouldn't be winding out. I'm a wonderin' if maybe the trans is slipping in top gear. Assuming its an...

Dual Exhaust Crossmember Modification on 64-66 A-Bodies?

Just be careful and don't do what I did first: I cut the arc a little too deep, welded the patch, then tried to bolt it up. The trans crossmember bottomed out on the chassis when I bolted it up and the bolt holes wouldn't line up. Had to cut my welds and re-do it. Pissed me off to no end!!!

Help! 65 Valiant, may have screwed up my shift cables bad

See my thread from a few months ago. You need to pull the pan off to unclip the shifter cable, no other way to do it. Pop the locking spring loose from the groove and the cable pops right out. http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=60988

Dual Exhaust Crossmember Modification on 64-66 A-Bodies?

I did my own, but your muffler shop can probably cut and weld your crossmember when they redo your exhaust. Easier for you.

Bolting the Torque Converter to Flexplate

Same engine, same 904 transmission, except it is rebuilt, original flexplate, new Hughes converter. Transmission is bolted in and now I need to slide the torque converter slightly forward to meet the flexplate to bolt it up. I need to slide it 3/16" to meet the flexplate. (I measured it by...

    Torque converter help.

I found a short phone call to Hughes Performance was helpful. They took the time to answer my questions and recommend a converter. Their prices are very reasonable, I got a 2000 stall speed converter from them for my cruiser for $200. Steve, the owner of Macy Transmission here in Concord, a...

Am I Crazy to Try This?

In talking with a transmission shop, the likely cause that my car will not move is that I damaged the front trans pump while trying to install the new motor. They guess it will run me about $400 to replace the pump and other gaskets and seals. My question is this: I've never torn down an...

Ok Tranny Guys - Need advice on rebuild
