    727 Difference inside

Transmission gurus, I have a Big block transmission from a motor home and one from a C body. I see on the MH one there are ribs on the tail shaft for strength, C body smooth. Are there any internal component strength difference between the two? I want to build one and sell the other with a 68...

    A999 in a 70 Duster

Thanks AJ, I did not know the 999 had a different 1 and 2 gear ratio. Car came with a 3:55 sg 8 1/4. I have a 3:21 in a box. I’m going to run what it has and see how it is. Then change it if needed. Sounds like it will put you back in the seat in 1st gear as it is and not be too bad with 3:21...

    A999 in a 70 Duster

Thank you for the info. Yes I was aware of the gear ratio with 25in tires it came with. I have a set of 3:21s in a box and a plethora of 15in tire sizes up to a 275/60 (28in) if I want to take any long trips. I want the trans to operate as normal and make the lock up work. My 67 Barracuda will...

    1970 DUSTER DRIVESHAFT W/904 AND 8 1/4

Ok, the chart is showing my Duster should measure 49.9in. the one I have is about 51.5 and setting it in the car its around .5-1in too long with the Yoke fully into the tail shaft. So 1.5in shorter should so the trick with room to move in the tail shaft.

    1970 DUSTER DRIVESHAFT W/904 AND 8 1/4

I went to have my Duster driveshaft shortened to fit my 904 - 8 1/4 set up.( it was changed from 7 1/4 before I bought it and the drive shaft was stuffed between the trans and pinion) They told me it is bent and needs rebuild at $450. Is there somewhere that sells replacements for less or...

    A999 in a 70 Duster

    No reverse and neutral

The 5.0 is in and the BM instructions said 1.5 turns out after 72inlb of torque. Did not air press test before valve body. Only when building the clutch packs. Is there another way or spec?

    No reverse and neutral

Just rebuilt my 74 727auto. First one. Used a B+M rebuild kit, Reverse manual valve body (used), Medium stall converter, followed directions to a T. When in reverse, has slight engagement then releases (feels like a nudge then nothing). When in neutral, it moves like it is in gear. The BM...

    727 differences

I have gotten my hands on a couple small block 727 trannys. One has a "snout" before the splines on the input shaft. The other has splines all the way forward to the edge. What is the difference? Witch one is better for a street car or a street/strip car? How can I tell what year they are?
