Gerashift indicator does not line up to letters properly

I had to replace the stop light switch in my 72 Dart, so I dropped the steering column to get at the bolt for the mounting bracket. When I put the column back up the car wouldn't start/ starter doesn't engage when turning the key. I noticed the gearshift indicator is now to the left of each...

    torsion bar help

I have a 72 Swinger. I plan on using Magnum Force upper control arms, Mancini Dynamic aluminum adjustable strut rods, and PST 1.03 torsion bars. Right now I have everything off in the front end. Brakes, spindles, strut rods, torsion bars, upper control arms, and lower control arms. Do I install...

Tack weld it. It's SOP on these. I've seen lots of them come apart.

    steering gearbox differences

If the steering wheel shot to the left them you have a bad power steering pump. I had the same thing happen to me on a 65 Polara. I changed the pump and everyuthing was good again.

magnum force tubular upper control arms

I ordered a set of Magnum Force tubular upper control arms. The non adjustable ones. A friend told me he had some clearance issues with his when he installed them. Anyone else had this problem? He has a 70 Dart Swinger and I have a 72 Dart Swinger. Just wondering what I'm getting in to here...

    leaf spring compatability

I had JR springs on my 68 Dart. The car isn't here or I'd check the part number on them. I'm sure these should be fine though. Thanks, Frank

    leaf spring compatability

I figured they would fit any A-body, but wasn't sure. I know 70 to 72 uses a small hanger bolt as opposed to the 5/8" bolts used on others. I have an e-mail into them for the specs on the springs and asking why they say they won't fit my car. Thanks for the responses. I really do appreciate your...

Does anyone know why these won't fit a 72 Dart? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-John-R-Spring-Leaf-Dodge-Dart-76-75-74-73-Plymouth-Duster-Scamp-Valiant-Car-/150695404535?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ADodge%7CModel%3ADart&vxp=mtr&hash=item23162563f7 Thanks, Frank

swapping to spool mount k frame

Good info to know. Thanks. I just want to convert from a slant to a smallblock right now. Somewhere down the line I'll be doing the big bolt pattern change though, so a spool mount k-frame is what I'll use. I have one sitting in my cellar right now.

swapping to spool mount k frame

Will the 72 style upper control arms work with a spool mount k frame?

swapping to spool mount k frame

Thanks for the reply Goef. If I do this I guess a swaybar is out for now. I have one from PST that is for a 72. Guess that won't work with the spool mount. I guess I could always go with Schumacher mounts instead or just find a biscuit mount k frame.

swapping to spool mount k frame

If I swap from a /6 k frame in a 72 Dart to a spool mount V-8 k frame, what else do I have to replace? Thanks, Frank

Power Steering Turns on its own

I had a similiar problem with my 66 Dodge Polara back in the 70s. I was starting to make a left turn and the steering wheel turned to the left by itself. It turned so quickly the it hit lock in an instant. I could not turn the wheel back until I turned the car off and when I restarted I could...

Tried to PM you about the wheel spacers and your PM box is full. I'm still interested in them. Thanks, Frank

Tire rubbing ball joint grease fitting, rim rubbing upper control arm

The front end rebuild is still on hold. Gotta wait for lift time at my buddies garage for that. Then I'll know for sure when the alignment is done. It would be nice if all I had to do was remove the zert. Time will tell.

LOL!! Hopefully I won't be getting air with the car. Good to know you didn't have any problems though.

I'm pretty sure I'll have to use spacers also. Whatcha gonna do? Live and learn I guess.

Tire rubbing ball joint grease fitting, rim rubbing upper control arm

I didn't get up the shop today to take any pics. I had a malfunction with old dental work and a hard pretzel. Tonight there is a new space in my mouth where a molar once was. I did call my buddy and have him try to measure the backspace though. He didn't have a straight edge the width of the rim...

Tire rubbing ball joint grease fitting, rim rubbing upper control arm

I'm hoping it's just too much negative camber in the alignment. Does anyone know what the backspace should be for a 14x7 wheel on a 68 Dart?

Tire rubbing ball joint grease fitting, rim rubbing upper control arm

I actually have the normal one, not the tall one. The grease fitting is rubbing the tire about a quarter of an inch above the lip of the rim. The lip of the rim is actually rubbing against the edge of the upper control arm. I will try to get some pics tomorrow.

Tire rubbing ball joint grease fitting, rim rubbing upper control arm

The car is a 68 Dart GT with drum brakes. Not sure of the size of the brakes. The wheels are 14x7 Ralleys. I can't measure the backspacing because the car is at the shop having the front end rebuilt. Here is a link to the for sale ad. They supposedly fit nice on the sellers 70 Swinger.
