hello, good thread, im about to pick up a complete 68 cuda dash,woodgrain etc, has anyone stripped one of these and painted themslves rather than send away for rechrome? ive seen pics of one with fresh chrome and black where woodgrain was......looks awesome!!! spray chrome in a can anyone?

its cool, if the temp here or around my dash ever got the same as the tip on my hot glue gun then my car would probobally be on fire and i would either be calling myself crispen frazzle :angel9:and it wouldnt matter or if not in the car at the moment of inferno concerned with how to put out...

material $20 hot glu gun and sticks $10,best part about it? did myself! we get hammered on tax and shipping this material quite thick and reakon looks ok, not into the original look,just tidy it up.

vinyl pretty cheep. hot glu gun,sharp utility knife,some clamps,patience. tip. dont glue any areas on show, glue the rear of your workpiece,pull/stretch vinyl behind, trim excess when glu sets.

i did mine and then centre consol to match, now doing door cards in same.

rather than have mine reupholstered at $800 i found some EXACT ones that came in leather.....bit tatty but no rips and cheeper than upholstering, plus all frames etc same that i made up, woo hoo:thumblef:

yummy, i do like that! i have a mig welder,105amp, know if you change wire and gas you can weld ally, going to have a go myself, whats the worst that can happen.....:cheers:

many thanks, im using the original "ramp" section of car floor as didnt want to go cutting etc,then a bolt through into floor, now to get the seats level<far side front mount you not see>i used a 2" hollow box section of ally<light and easy drill> as spacer, then rear<see pic> a 1" ali box...

AWESOME, KEEPING MY EYES PEELED FOR ONE OF THESE, !!! love it, must have one and happy to pay! settle for the plastic ones mentioned earlier but no one makes them for 68 A body. poo

:cheers: im doing disk conv 4.0" to 4.5" and other bits and bobs, the new wheels are sat there out the way,dont want to damage them. the seats are 80s porshce, reakon old skool look,comfy and available/affordable,either 924,944 or 911.

hi there. i drilled holes in floor for old porshce seats i fitted, the new porshce had no subframes so i pinched the old ones which bolted straight on! this mrens no drilling new holes:cheers: now im using the original "ramped hump" in floor so got some box section 1" and 2" ally and made...

:cheers:was going to have mine recovered..saw these local on egay, around $300 and save me recovering old! they exactly same as previous so no new hole drilling etc, again came from a porshce, like cos they skinny ish and tilt forward.see whay you reakon:cheers:

i agree here, if somone had a template diagram it gould be emailed easily enough? after all just flat ali piece with fold.......

hi there, i used a ali gauze with hot glue to make general shape of hump,then fiberglass with regular car body filler over that.then hot glue to hold the material <tip dont hot glue the surfaces but area on underside and bit below the metal top section>

i love em, originals are like rocking horse poo and even rarer here in uk, i did same with seats from a porshce, going to have retrimmed in vinyl as close to original, ps bet yours more comfortable too! love rest of car by the way....

hi there, i did my dash, see post "now ive started somthing" that involved retrimming dash pads in same material,the best advive can give is: get your area to work in clear< sounds daft but you be surprised how much glue drips out hot glu gun, get plenty of glue sticks, i mean plenty! sharp...
