I think flats are a cool look, but probably somewhat of a faddish one that will probably pass, like a lot of paint schemes have over the years. My cars will always be gloss I think. But even more than the flat finishes, I prefer this look, the "fresh patina" look:

Exaaactly!......I would file that under "nightmare", but everybody has their own definition of what they consider a "challenging project" that they would actually enjoy doing. Maybe if I was retired....... Bet you could find a donor body out here in CA for less than $2K.....but I know shipping...

I personally have always liked my reds to have a touch of orange in them, not so much pure cherry or blood red. Here's a few examples of that GM Roman Red I mentioned before.....no metallic either.....

" IIRC " means "if I remember correctly". Me and my friends always called cars like you mention "hacksaw convertibles". If you DO decide to do it, realize that the car's value probably just went to almost zero, in addition to all the other frame and structural weakness considerations.

IMO, there are 3 things..... A. Is your car going to spend all its life out in the sun and weather?....or garaged? If garaged, I'd say you could get away with lower-quality paint and it'll never bite you. B. What kind of paint will they be using? Maaco has specials on their urethane jobs now...

Those are pretty run-of-the-mill sort of 273/318 2-barrel emblems.....I thought maybe there were other ones that were the exact same size that read "commando V-8"......I believe my '67 Barracuda had them, because it's a Commando 273 engined car, but not a Formula S.

The only one I can think of is the little 6-inch looking bracket that goes from the center of the wheel opening up to the inner fender/shock tower sheetmetal.

I'd probably bite the bullet too......and it looks like the metal is kinda "pulled up" where the mirror is supposed to sit....that will have to be straightened, I would think, or it'll be noticeable.
