    440 RB question

Pistons = .080 in the hole or more. :) Still worth every penny though!

    Good Deal on a 383?

I dunno......a small displacement BB with iron heads, and you want to make a handling car? I don't think that's going in the right direction. Maybe if it had aluminum heads, but I'm still no big fan of small BB's. I mean why? A stroker small block with a lot of aluminum components on it...

    Talk me into Fenderwell Headers

I'm definitely not as against them as I once was......probably because early on, I usually was seeing too many fenderwells cut out with what looked like a drunk and an air chisel. I think a really clean job, cut out fairly tight next to the tubes is pretty appealing now. If I were to go with...

Stopping the knock: Lower compression and ported heads...

I agree with these 2 statements. Seems like an awful lot of oil carbon on those piston tops......getting it from somewhere.

    Speakin' of 440 fuel economy.

I always wondered how much a lock-up torque converter would help......or if it could be adapted at all. I'm thinking it could.

Lets play, "How Much Did It Make"

LMFWAO! I'll say....uhhhhm.....639 H.P. and 525 Tq. I'm just stabbing in the dark here.....

Want feed back for project car

Nice.....just don't wrap it around a tree. I know when I was 18, I would've been outta control with that kind of power. Hell....you got me beat with that car!

Missing bad under load. Where to start???

I'd say it's possible your spark is cross-jumping across terminals in the dist. cap or jumping out of the spark plug wires, maybe onto a header or valve cover when under a load. Make sure you've got good clearance from S.P. wires/ground sources.

    451 on the dyno

That's pretty amazing. The max HP was reached at 6300 RPM....wow. Max torque is really high as well. Were those 906's massaged pretty heavily? I'd like to run a similar combination.

    What will my car weigh?

Also depends if you're going to run a cast iron intake (which I wasn't considering) and a cast iron water pump housing too.

    What will my car weigh?

I don't know why, but vehicle weights interest me very much. Sometimes they're very surprising! With or without A/C? I imagine you DO have a floor console, since it's a 440 in a GT. I'll guess and say 3475 lbs......or as high as 3600 lbs.

**Who was lookin' for the "M" code manifolds...???**

That'd be a crack-up if the seller picked 'em up at a yard sale. Yeah, those manifolds are like gold....no wait, gold is going down in value.

Do you think this is worth $5000

I'm not saying yes here, but I'm on board with that thought about the drivetrain. There's some value in that rear end too, but I'd say the body is worth about $500. I'd feel him out about how bad he wants it gone and make an offer accordingly. I'm thinking $3500, tops. Check out what year...

    3rd Times a Charm, Low comp 440

I have a couple of those too......I have a funny feeling that the "true compression ratio" of those 440 may be a little more depressing than 8.2 to 1. I guess it's RV cam time.....or whatever it takes to get the compression boosted.

    Big Blocks and Handling

Great thread.....I find this stuff interesting! I would say that the Dana rear end isn't gonna help anything since it's unsprung weight, but the relocated battery is an easy "gimme" in the weights and balances dep't, as well as all the aluminum components that were mentioned. I just removed a...

    hood scoop to air cleaner

Oh man.....one of the Mopar magazines did an article on this very car! Now if I could only remember which mag/year it was.....I'll look around. They used a generic bottom air filter housing, but then bought a fiberglass replica air filter top for a Max Wedge car, thereby exposing the outside...
