    70's era gauges

I don't think anyone was putting slotted mags on 3/4 ton trucks like that back in the late 60's, as for gauges Stewart warners would go perfect in that rig.

    Gas gauge

Also check the nuts that hold the gauge into the cluster, they could be loose or just not making good contact.

dual pickup distributor for a dodge 440 ?

Just FYI the two pickups aren't phased the same, the start pickup is 10* (I think) retarded in relation to the run pickup. Will that work with the Holley FI? You could cannibalize a small block distributor for the pickup plate and swap it into a big block distributor.

Napa has 'em, they are sometimes called "GM 56" or "Packard 56" terminals.

    5 pin for a 4 pin

A 4 pin ecu will work on a 5 pin system but a 5 pin ecu wont work on a 4 pin system. The 5 pin ecu needs the double ballast resistor to work.

    flashers ain't flashing out back...

If the turn signals out back are working then the problem isn't in the bulbs or wiring to the tail lights. I would have to guess the problem is in the turn signal switch, possably just a dirty contact in the switch.

    MIL-SPEC cannon bulkhead connectors?

The only real trouble spot on the factory bulkhead connector are the two wires for the ammeter which get dirty then melt the plastic housing. I eliminated the factory ammeter connections in the bulkhead on my dart by making a copper buss bar that passes through the bulkhead and connects the...

    Baffling Charging System Question

First thing to check is if your voltage regulator (Im assuming electronic) is grounded properly, loosen the bolts on the regulator and then tighten them a few times. Next (with the ign on) you should have 12v at one of the field wires and some resistance on the other, the electronic regulator...

    dome light dying?

1st thing to check- make sure the bulb isn't loose in the socket and there's no corrosion on the base of the bulb. If the bulb is ok there are 3 connections on the dome light circuit, one in the trunk on the driver side under the hinge, one behind the driver side kick panel, and the headlight...

    Marine dist.

Marine engines use a different oil pump on reverse rotation engines, they spin backwards along with everything else. Marine engines and their lefthanded stuff just plain sucks!

    Marine dist.

Marine dist have no vacuum advance and might not spin the right way. You wouldn't want to run without the vacuum advance on the street unless you want really crappy mileage.

    Not firing up!?!?!

Sounds like your not getting any spark, pull the coil wire at the dist and hold near ground while cranking the engine. If no spark check the plugs at the ballast resistor and ign box for corrosion also check the bulkhead connectors. If that checks out ok then its probably the ign box or ballast...

    HELP!!starter solenoid???

Could be the seatbelt interlock relay, starter relay, neutral safety switch or wiring problem but most likely it wont be the starter since you can jump the starter to crank it.

I absolutly HATE when stuff like that happens. It sounds like a bad connecton or loose wire. I hope you find the problem.

    harness plug getting hot

Any heat in a plug or wire indicates high resisance which is a result of a poor connection or too much current flowing though too small of a wire. Pull the plug apart an check for corrosion and squeeze the female terminals so they fit tighter into the male terminals. The steering column should...

    Wiring Issues!!!!!

All power goes through the ammeter, nothing electrical will work unless the two heavy wires going to the cluster are hooked up to the ammeter or if the cluster is removed the two wires can be temperarely conncted together to power the system.

Squareback alt. OK on 71 Duster?

The bulkhead connector and amp guage are the weak links in the electrical system when adding higher output alternator with high load accessories. Run a thicker wire from the battery directly to the alternator output.
