i’d try leaving it attached, you know it’s welds are good. if not just use a spot weld cutter. it’s going to take a long time but it builds character lol!
Anyone used Tamco paint? They say the can mix up in factory colors in single stage urethane or base coat clear. I see a bunch of youtubers using it with great success. It much more affordable than PPG .
Anyone know why these 340 callouts only fit upside down? I bought them on eBay years ago. The hood is original to the car. I'm pretty sure the original ones didn't fit like this.
The grill looks straight and lined up with the bumper good. I suppose I could just modify the bracket to work. This car has been apart for 20 years. Trying to put together what I have to see what's missing.
This is what I got from the guy I bought the grill from. I'm thinking the one on top is correct for the left side and the other two don't seem to be correct for this grill.
I would section in a piece if the rest of it is solid.Changing the whole piece will be a real pain. It welds the the floor, rockers and both front rails.
It's not as bad as it looks. Buy a crap load of sheet metal screws and screw the whole back end together before doing any welding. Make sure the car is sitting on its suspension . Hopefully the guy lined up the doors and trunk before he removed the quarters .
I suppose it depends on how long you want it to last. I would get a good assessment of the condition of the whole floor board b4 i made any decisions. My floor looked solid till i took a sand blaster to it and then it was full of pin holes.
If the rest of the car is pretty solid and in decent driver condition i'd fix it. If the rest of the car looks like the roof i think you'd be better of finding another car or at least a donor body.
You need to get someone that knows how to weld to patch up your grind holes and i think it will be ok. the trick is gonna be figuring out were to cut the new holes. not too hard of a job if you know what your doing. I myself wouldn't mess around with cutting that out and welding in something...
I'd try running a bead on a flat section of the panel first. See if you can tune in the welder. Either the gas is not working or you don't have one of the settings set right.
I changed the drivers side rocker on my dart in auto body class. Its best to put the door on and use it to line up the rocker. Make sure the car is sitting on the suspension when u do it. Its wasn't too bad i think it was harder to remove the old one than put the new one in.
Everything 1968formulas340 said plus you should align the panels with the car sitting on its suspension. I had to twist the doors on my dart to get them to line up.
