    Manual Steering Box Replacement Question

I swapped my 68 Barracuda over to power steering. It has been the single best modification behind disk brakes I have done for my driving enjoyment. If you go that way you can eliminate the over boosted feel of Mopar power steering from that era by removing the pressure relief valve from the...

Is it possible that a 1973 A body K member

You can use any center link as long as you use the same vintage idler arm and pitman arm. The 67 was unique because of the way the idler arm mounted to the K frame. When I swapped from /6 to the 360 in my 68 I used a 73 spool mount k-frame with the 68 idler, center link and pitman. Later when I...

Subframe Connectors, Torque Boxes & Inner Fender Braces

FWIW, I would like to relay some experiences with the subject title. When I first got my 68 Cuda Coupe I jacked it up with a floor jack under the torsion bar cross member with the drivers door open. When I tried to close the door the latch and striker were off by almost 1/2". That much flex...

I just use a cotter pin on my strut rods. Easier to get out when you need to and serves the purpose just as well.

clocking lca to torsion bars helppp

Take the bump stop off the upper control arm so the front suspension will drop all the way. That with the torsion bar adjusting bolt backed off all the way the bar will slip right in.

    ADDCO rear sway bar problems

8.25 or 8.75 doesn't make a difference, the axle tube is the smae 3" diameter. My car looks the same, I just kept tightening the the u-bolt until it was tight. I picked up as set of longer end links at auto zone for a couple of bucks to get the bar to set level. Been working good for a couple...

Is it possible that a 1973 A body K member

Why would a 73 k be in an original 70 v8 car? The spool motor mounts won't let the motor flop around if a mount fails. FWIW, i had a 73 318 Dart parts car. Initially i used the upper control arms and spindles for a disk brake swap into my 68 Barracuda. I then used the K for a 360 swap in place...

Addco rear sway bar from Summit

I have ADDCO bars on the front and rear of my 68 Barracuda, fit well and easy install. I have a 73 spool k-member so have the through the K bar up front. The rear of my car sits a couple of inches higher than stock so I picked up and end link kit at Autozone for a couple of bucks that was longer...

Tire fitment with springs in stock location.

I have 255/60-15's on 15x8 rims with 4.5" of back spacing. I have about 1/2" of clearance between the tire sidewall and the springs and about 1 1/2" to the wheel well lip. I would go with 4 to 4 1/4" of back spacing for a 8" rim and 275 tires. BTW, this is on a 68 Barracuda.

Power steering firmness, or lack of

March (the pulley people) & Borgeson both have kits for about $20 that provide the shims, o-ring and a holder to adjust the pump preassure. I got my kit from Summit.

    Steering Coupler Question?

I have power steering in my Barracuda and I used to have manual. When I swapped to power I installed a power column I had picked up at a swap meet. My question is the power column coupler that attaches to the steering box is 3 3/4" long. The one on the manual box is 3" long. Short of taking...

    Torsion bars installed incorrectly?

Also remove the bump stop that is on the frame. This will allow the control arms to droop further and will help in getting the hex on the bar lined up with hex socket on the lower control arm.

    Psc or pst

Even the granite impregnated poly bushings will eventually start to squeak. I rebuilt with poly graphite and within a couple of months the strut rod bushings were squeaking like an old junker. I wound up rebuilding again with stock rubber. Maybe with auto crossing or road racing you would...

Tie Rod End Inner and Outer

If you are going to do all four you might want to consider investing in the solid collers from some one like PST. If you really want to do it up get C-body ends with the 11/16" thread and the sold collers.

    connector connection ?

First you don't want the car upside down when you put the frame connectors in. You want it supported as though it was on the wheels so that the body will be seeing its normal loading (best if you do it with the engine and tranny in sitting on the wheel or on jack stands under the axle and LCAs)...

Want it to handle like a new car!!!

If you go back through the back issues of the Mopar mags (don't recall whether it was Mopar Muscle or Mopar Action) from earlier this year there was an article where they put the Hotchkiss kit on a B-body and tested the handling at each step. The Hotchkiss stuff is not cheap but it can be...

    Mancini XHD leaf springs...

This is how the Mancini XHD springs sit on my 'Cuda. They were slightly uneven when I installed them but I drove it a bit to seat them in and then adjusted the torsion bars to level the car out.

Bolt in rack and pinion conversions for A bodys

That unisteer rack bolts to the k-member using the old steering box mount and the idler arm mount. Sits in the same place behind the k-member so there is no clearance benefit. Most of the articles I have read about these retrofit kits is they have issues with bump steer. For a 1/3 of the...

    Center link confusion

Yes all the 68 steering gear will work on the 74 spool k-member. That is what I did when I first swapped in the 360 into my 68 \6 Barracuda, I latter swapped in all the 73+ steering gear when I went from manual to power steering.

Anyone using an Addco Rear Sway bar?

Couldn't agree more. You can also get universal kits at places like Autozone that come with the bolt, bushings, spacers and washers for less than $10. The only consideration for length is you don't get the bar into a postion where it interferes with something.

    73-76 A Center Links

The 67 to 72 has a deeper drop than the 73 to 76 do to the way the pitman and idler arm mount. Could be some one was swapping around parts.

Manual VS Power Steering (I'm in need a Manual shaft)

My 68 Barracuda was orignally manual steering. I switched to Power Steering and it was one of the best upgrades I have made to the car, on par with the swap from a \6 to the 360. Manual steering has a ratio of like 24:1 verse 16:1 of power. The swap to power took a slow responding hand full...

Subsitute for buying 1973+ LCR with sway bar tabs..

FWIW, you can't use the shock bolt on a 73+ swaybar. They mount to the control arm in board of the strut rod. Here is a pictur of a 73+ Addco bar installed withe the provided bracket.
