    Subframe connectors

I used 1.5 by 2" rectangular tubing. Cut the front of the rear sub-frame open and slip the tubing in an welded a 2 by 3 plate to the front to weld to. Once all welded in the tubing is against the foot well in the rear but did not require any floor modifications and the parking brake cable did...

    V8 center link question

66 and older the 6 cyl center link is straight, the v8 has a dip in the middle. 67 and up they all have the dip.

    340 or 360 for 66 Barracuda?

Built equally the 360 will make more power, 20 more cubes. As far as reving the 360 has a much lighter rotating assembly due to the shorter and lighter pistons so there is no real difference in the ability to rev between the two engines.

New Bench Seat Covers hard to get?

I had no issues getting a bench seat cover for my 68 Barracuda from Legendary interiors. I actually ordered the 67 pattern to go along with the 67 rear seat I had. Don't know if they deal with older a-bodies or not.

    360 balance question

But the mallory metal that needs to be added to the crank is quite expensive plus the side drilling of the crank to install it adds more cost. You take a balance job that would normally cost $200 and turn it into a $500 job for absolutely no benefit if you aren't turning in excess of 6000 rpm on...

    360 balance question

Since you are going with a manual transmission ignore all the comments about weighted torque converters and flex plates. You will need a pre-magnum specific 360 harmonic balancer for the front of the engine and you will need to have the flywheel you have the link to machined with the three...

Will 8-3/4 alxes fit in the old 65 7-1/4 rear?

Depending on what your plans are for the car the 7 1/4 may be just fine until you locate an 8 1/4 or an 8 3/4. It was the stock rear end behind \6's and non performance 273's and 318's, in those applications it provided 100's of thousands of trouble free miles. If your immendiate goal is the...

    keith blacks in a 340?

The only reason that poeple complain about KB Hypereutetic pistons is they didn't follow the instructions for end gap and break a piston when the ring ends hit or because the instructions say to set them much wider they assume there will be more leak down. Because the ring is closer to the top...

    Small bolt to big bolt

Why would you use a weaker axle if you were to do it over? The 8.25 is nearly as strong as the 8.75 it replaced and about the same as a Ford 8.8".

    Small bolt to big bolt

If you redrill the axles and drums then you will have to redrill drums again the next time you need them. If you purchase new axles with the B/E body offset then you can use off the shelf brake drums which are larger, ceaper and easier to find or easily install one of the aftermarket rear...

    V8 Gas Peddles

Oh!! you are talking about early a-bodies only! The 67+ A-bodies used a cable whether it was a \6 or a v8, the cable length was different between \6, 2bbl v8 and 4bbl v8 but as far as I know the pedal assembly was the same.

    V8 Gas Peddles

What's different between a 6 cyl and v8 gas pedal? Can't imagine why they would make them different. FWIW, when I swapped the \6 to v8 I used the pedal that was in the car and it works just fine.

Stock Electronic Ignition or MSD 6AL ?

The ignition doesn't know if it's hooked up to a Chevy, Ford or Mopar. Electrons are Electrons so i wouldn't worry about compatability, just assess on price, reliability and support. IMHO, I would invest in a better distributor before worrying about purchasing an ignition box. The stock...

New Pertronix Coil & Ballast Resister

The coil does not require a ballast. If you do not eliminate you won't get the full potential of the coil. It's very simple to do, just put a mail spade connector on each end of a short piece of wire then unplug the ballast and plug the jumper in in it's place.

    Rear shock question???

You can elongated the holes 1/4" on each side on the 7.25" shock plates and use them if you don't have the ones from the 8.75.

Motor mounts /6 to v8 question

If you go take a look at my web page I did build a slant 6. I still have pictures of the car with the \6 in it (see the link below). It had a Comp Cam, offy intake, 4bbl carb, 6 into 2 headers with dual exahust, the head was machined to raise the compression to approx 9:1 but it still had...

    Gas prices killing me!

Even buying a second car it may take a year or more to pay off the cost of the purchase & insurance before you realize a savings. I was going to pick up a 03 Neon for $2k to drive daily in place of my Dakota that gets 15-17mpg. I figured it would be 1.5 years before I saved any money. You...

    A-body Disc brakes

The rear end is likely to be a 7 1/4 unless it was a prformance model or had some heavy duty options. The 73 Dart I used for the disk brak parts was a 318 car and still had the 7 1/4. But even if it has the 7 1/4 it will be the larger bolt pattern which will match the disk brakes up front.

    A-body Disc brakes

John, since you confirmed the parts to be from a 73 you will also need to have the upper control arms. The Ball joint is larger so the ball joint in your current ucr will not fit the spindle and the new ball joint won't fit into your ucr either. FWIW, when I did this conversion I used the...

    Headliner install?

I did the headliner in my 68 Barracuda coupe and that was the one thing I wish I had paid some one to do. Contrary to what everyone told me about the wrinkles coming out after sitting in the sun they all didn't. Mine was much much better than the picture Cavemanmoron posted but I am not real...

    Car dies in left turn??

Are you sure it's fuel? I had a situation years ago that every time I turned left the fuse for the directionals would blow. I tore into the colum looking for a short and it turned out a wire would contact the exhaust manifold when I made a left turn. It was for a circuit that the FSM wiring...

Early LA eng by pass hose

Go down to your local NAPA. On the HELP board they will have hose nipples with various size threaded and hose ends. You should be able to find some thing that will work. Using a pipe niple is kind of cheesey when for a $1 or so you can purchase the correct fitting.

Motor Mount modifications for 340/360 into Early A

If I visualize the pictures in the link above correctly am I seeing two ears with two holes each on the passenger side of the 273 block? And, the mount bolts to the two rear holes and one front hole? I was always under the belief that 273/318/340/360 blocks all had the same two front one rear...

Motor Mount modifications for 340/360 into Early A

I don't know anything about early A-bodies but if you have one with a 273 why do you have to do anything to the passenger side to put a 340/360 in? I know the ears on the drivers side of a 340/360 block are closer together than the 273/318 but the passenger side of the block is the same but...
