I first restored the '72 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus. Now finishing up the restoration of '65 Formula S. I found these 18 used clips in the box with my Formula S fasteners (see photo). I don't remember removing them from the Barracuda. What do you think? Did I throw them in the wrong box by...

Even with the correct tab in place, for some reason the bezel sometimes won't stay put. It's been a kind of battle for me lately on my '65 A bodies.

I don't care for the hood pins with lanyards. I may go with the Ford twist style if I ever upgrade. Or Quick-Latch.

Sand blast, then brush applied Ospho and Rust-Oleum Rust reformer (soon to be followed by Rust-Oleum primer).

For now I am going to slap on the original bumpers belonging to the '65 Formula S (don't have the means to restore 'em right now). I can shine up the chrome and little beforehand, but what to do about the "hidden" rust on the inside? Thank you.

That's a good question. The original interior was gold, when I purchased it the interior was black (the build sheet under the black seats did not match the vehicle). Not sure if the vehicle had vinyl roof from the factory, but it was loaded otherwise (Formula S with A/C, power steering and brakes).

Barracudas have no windshield/rear window molding or chrome period? Nothing on the outside, nothing on the inside? Only the rubber gasket with lock strip?

I just found this old photo of the '65 Formula S after we removed the windshield. Are there some kind of clips at regular intervals around the perimeter of the windshield gasket sill or am I seeing things? Thank you.

For example, chrome/stainless wheel well molding is always taking a beating, as well as other exterior chrome and metal adornments (see photos #1 & #2). I read where these things are "restored" somehow and somewhere. Is it performed by elves with tiny hammers? I can't picture straightening out...

Not much. I painted this spare tire rim 5-10 years ago and its been installed almost 3 years on the '65 Formula S while it was being stripped, sandblasted, and painted. Has some overspray from the body shop on the outside of the rim. Cleaned it up today with some Simple Green.

That's what it appears to be, a coin toss. The engineers must have had something in mind, but this forum is probably not going to solve the "mystery".

Point well taken, two ways to place it, two ways it was installed. The best source would be factory diagrams in my humble opinion, but unfortunately that is the most difficult to read (not detailed enough images). Regardless, the good news is the seal will probably work installed either way. Whew!

My final word on this: a) I'm not positive what post #4 means by "Round edge goes toward the engine." b) Looking at my own photo once again in post #1, I can see that the repaint did not include underhood or the area of the seal. The seal has obviously been installed there forever and I am now...

According to this video, the seal is used to prevent engine heat/fumes from entering the passenger compartment via the air intake in the cowl vents (My idea [wrong] was maybe it was to prevent water drainage into the engine compartment).

I hate to ask trivial questions, but I notice the seal can be placed two different ways because its round and smooth on one edge and kind of open on the other side. Which side faces front, which side faces rearward (and why?). Thank you. Photo is of '65 convertible which has had a repaint, so...

I painted my fuel tank and front stabilizer bar John Deere Green because I had that color on hand in the garage (do what you have to sometimes). I actually got to like the way those items turned out.

I agree with the white votes. It will look clean, bright, and won't overshadow the outside patina or the motor color. My Formula S is white (not coincidentally exterior is white as well). Black is way too Chevy lookin'.
