    Distributor filling itself with oil

For all i know, taking it apart for inspection knocked a piece of swarf out that i didn't see that was corkscrewing the oil up like someone else suggested. I have no idea why it was doing it before, and why it doesn't appear to be now. Im bumfuzzled.

    Distributor filling itself with oil

So, found the vacuum advance leaking. Thats been changed, and car runs better than ever. Ive got about 60 miles on with no evidence of more oil yet. Hopefully get a bunch more on this weekend, so we'll see of that was it! If not, it comes back out to see if it has the passages i didn't see last...

    Distributor filling itself with oil

The distributor didn't leak for the first 100 miles or so. Then started. Nobody had asked for pictures, and i didn't think to post any, so im not sure where the "refused" part comes in, but here is my exact setup. Pass side valve cover breather is both vented to atmosphere and had a fresh air...

    Distributor filling itself with oil

Gee, thanks rusty! Really helpful! Everyone else: Distributor was torn down completely yesterday. No burrs found on shaft, but polished with 2000 grit anyway just for kicks. The i side of the housing had no passages, nor and obviously missing seals or damage. Nowhere to put permatex, nor...

    Distributor filling itself with oil

La 360, been in the car for 15 years, about 20k on it. Has had stocke electronic ignition, then msd pro billet. After i removed the megasquirt and went back to a carb i wanted vacuum advance and easily adjusted advance curve. Went with an Amazon special hei style distributor. About 200 miles...

    Small block hei distributors

Im currently running an msd pro billet distributor in my 360. It does not have vacuum advance. Getting a whopping 8mpg out of it. So im looking at my options. Before putting the wideband on and messing with the carb, im getting timing sorted. To that end, im looking at the cheap hei...

Magnum vs la timing chain cover

So, i know they are different. However, haven't been able to find the information im looking for. I want to run a magnum serpentine belt system on my 360. The whole 9 yards. It APPEARS that the magnum water pump shares the same mounting pattern as the la. The timing cover has some extra...

Anyone else using MegaSquirt on a LA motor?

Single pickup lean burn. Ill try twisted pair tomorrow, but im not feeling lucky. So youre saying that you're pretty sure its the lean burn distributor causing issues?

Anyone else using MegaSquirt on a LA motor?

Care to elaborate on the newer magnum distributor? Wiring changes, settings, etc? Or an off the shelf trigger wheel setup like youre talking about? Or at least a good writeup to use a commercial wheel and sensor, building my own brackets? Ive become convinced that the lean burn is the root of...

    Planning a magnum swap

The swap this is going in is for the grm challenge. Build a autocross /show and shine/dragstrip car for a documented $2017. I'm already at $300 for a roller body. No drive train. With it being in the mopar family, and me being a mopar guy, I want to do it with a small block mopar. This...

    Planning a magnum swap

I've looked through that site a few times. No info on the factory harness or trans control. It's more focused on stuffing one in an a body with a carb.

    Planning a magnum swap

So the current plan calls for a full magnum 5.2 drive train from a durango. 97ish. I'm planning trans, engine. Injection, etc. With the ecm in the engine bay, how much interior wiring will I need to grab from the donor? Other than the obd2 port. The next question : who regrinds these...

    serpentine swap

so, I suck at searching. ill get that out of the way first. im thinking of going to serpentine to alleviate some high RPM belt throwing problems in my duster. my thought had been to use the factory magnum setup. I know plenty of guys have done this, but I cant seem to find relevant info...

lets talk pan gaskets and rear main seals

never had good luck with oil pan gaskets, and this continues to be true. im pulling the engine from my duster in a few weeks to change it, as well as do my tremec conversion, cleaning, etc. anyway, im running an LA style 360, with a kevco 7 quart pan. what is the BEST gasket on the market...

    rear coolant passages

so in the back of my heads are a pair of coolant passages that do not meet due to being blocked by the intake manifold. since im already modifying my victor jr for EFI, should i build a coolant crossover for those two ports? would it gain me anything, or just be another leak point? engine is a...

magnum intake, LA heads. can i?

im having a hard time picturing this. how di you locate the holes into the heads, and the correct angle? did you use the tubing as a guide to locae the angle of the holes correctly? in other words, can you elaborate some more on your setup and process? im assuming this was the stock "beer...

magnum intake, LA heads. can i?

ok, so im looking at all my options for going EFI on my 360 LA duster. one option i hadnt given much thought, but seems like a really good idea now that im doped up on cold medicine, is to use an injected M1 intake from a magnum motor. only problem is my LA heads. could i re-drill the bolt...

Engine paint.... Lets see them purdy SB's

    crosswind intake, review and questions

final verdict: it works. had to re-machine all the intake to LA head bolt holes. down on power from the victor jr, but up on throttle respose and low end torque. to get the end rails to seal properly, i had to use bothe the cork gaskets AND an 1/8 bead of RTV. they were that wide. the...
