whats the best valve cover breather style/ type to use? im using mopar ones, with 3/4 tubes off into a can, but im sure iv seen K&N style ones but i cant find then on searches, only the small bore ones. but are these better?

yes its all solid mounts on engine, so i get some vibration lol 3'' to axle, no x or h pipes, pumping 8lbs of fuel in :]

Yesterday got the engine fired up for the first time, and got the cam run in:blob: Got a few bits left today, and take some more pics/ video

Crank should be good, its down to the quality of the build and parts at those powers

im running the pan, and had to do a small notch in the kframe too, nothing too bad, but i also run solid mountsm so theres no engine movement either. you may want to factor this in with the notch size.

just build it, make it the best you can afford, and then make sure you stick 340 on the hood, so everyone knows :) i wouldnt worry about much else, you got a good engine for good money.

to get 11's your gona need to look at the tyres, road tyres wont do, even if you do make 400 out the engine.

the 340 is just about complete now, rollers have to get put on, and then its off to get painted blue again, and then off for bench testing really looking forward to seeing how much its pulling

mine is a 71, and is blue, but its going hemi orange after rebuild so i suppose its up to you what you prefer

Fair point, I just didnt know how hard they are to find. In he uk they are like rockin Horse **** to find, A stroked 318 will need a better top end though, unless we are talking early 318's.

I'm not comparing 318 to 340 with just cube size, the 340 engine has bigger valves higher compression, and is the best small block, it will make more power with tuning, even more than the 360.

Or just change your gearing to 5:1

How about just finding a 340 motor, and running it stock until you can afford to put new intake and carb on. 340 make around 275hp even tired ones, which is a lot more than your 318 with basic modifications can do. Taking a 318 out even to 60tho over, with flat top forged pistons and a bigger...
