71 Dart bow style headliner install

I am planning to install the bow style (without the side clips) headliner pretty soon. The old headliner had already been pulled out before I got the car, so I didn't see how it was originally configured. I have the original sail panels from that headliner. My question is this . . . - Are the...

71 Dart Split Bench Cover Help Needed

I am in the process of recovering the seats in my 71 Dart project and I have a question about recovering the split bench front seat. I am using a cover set from Legendary Interiors and I have seen their YouTube vids on the process. The original seat covers used a plastic cover that fit over the...

    71 Dart Front Split Bench

I have been stripping down my seats so that I can work on them inside this winter. #1. The fiber board panels that are under the seat cover, covering the large opening in the back of the front sides have some mold on them. I would like to replace these with new material and use the old ones as...

    Under my rubber mat??

the vinyl mat itself may be the problem. It will trap moisture that condenses under it because the moisture can't vaporize through it. You may still have a leak, but you don't necessarily need one with this stuff. L8r

    Painting metal dash

I was able to pull it off when I repainted the dash frame on my Olds 4-4-2. Masking was a *****, plain and simple. I used some pretty thin masking tape so that I was able to curve it somewhat. First I masked off along the bottom of the windshield at the front of the dash. Don't be afraid to use...

How does this happen and how do I remove them

I don't think that came from using the defrosters. There is no way that should discolor them like that. Any evidence of an engine fire? Maybe some other smoke cloud was driven through with the defroster on?? L8r

    dash,jams and uderhood paint?

mopar410, I am personally going to go with single stage in the engine compartment and interior. I intend to used the BC/CC in the door jambs. I agree that gloss finish between the dash pad and the windshield would not be a good idea. I too am going with black in this area and will add a dash of...

any 70 dart interior trim picks?

mopar410, the only trim in the front are A-pillar covers. The windshield gasket covers the top edge of the head liner. There are two L-shpaed pieces that cover the top and sides of the rear window. They slip together at the center of the top and each piece goes from there across the top and down...

How do you add a center console 71 dart?

Do you already have bucket seats? If not, the mounting points in the floor will need to be reinforced for teh bucket mounting studs. L8r Jim

OK - I give - how do I remove back seat?

In case it helps, here are a couple of pix of the anchors for the seats. The first in the one at the front of the lower seat, so you can picture how the seat frame needs to go back first and then up and forward. The second pic is the anchor in front of the package tray that hooks to the top part...

What covers headliner at back glass?

....... there are two, small bent wire hooks that snap into the roof cross member just in front of the back glass opening that hook into the last head liner bow to hold it in position at the back. You can't see them unless the head liner has been pulled away from the back opening. L8r Jim

What covers headliner at back glass?

There are teeth around the edge of the glass opening that hold the head liner material after it is stretched into shape. There are also two pieces of a metal trim piece that splits in the middle that screws into the opening to cover the uglies. The trim is usually painted the interior color. You...

    Headliner side molding/clips

Dave, I eventually found the parts that I was looking for. That's what happens when you have spares for three different cars in the same place! Well, here goes! The first pic shows the pinch weld on the roof near the A-pillar on the drivers side. The headliner material wraps around the outside...

    Headliner side molding/clips

Dave, I responded from memory. I will try to get out to my storage shed tonight after work to get a better description for you. They are talking about breaking a heat index record here today so I can only imagine what the inside of the shed will be like, ughhhh! L8r Jim

    Headliner side molding/clips

The open end of the U-shaped clips attach to the roof side of the weatherstrip channel. Then you push the channel up into the opening next to the rain gutter. L8r Jim

1968 Dodge Dart how hard to install a headliner?

A long, thin sewing needle works very well if you have to hunt around for a mounting hole. It gives you a lot of reach and leaves a hole that is very difficult to detect when you are all done. Especially with the textured headliners that many of these cars have.

    headliner bow locations

440+6, Your hypothesis is correct the 2 square indentations is where the other bows go. I have attached a copy of the driver's side of my 71 Dart and there are holes drilled in the square areas you show in the picture.

    Old Adhesive Removal

I have started to renew the interior of my gutted 71 Dart. There is considerable old spray adhesive "strings" where the speaker deck cover was and behind the door panels. What is a good way to remove this crap so that I can scuff up the factory paint underneath a lay a good new foundation over...
