Oil Support Rails and Drag Racing

The pistons have a cut out for the pin to go through. The dimple works just find. I can’t remember having to take any pistons out because of a oil problem. We just did a 426 small block that used a 340 block as its base and those pistons have a dimple to lock the support ring in place.

Oil Support Rails and Drag Racing

We have used them a lot in the stroker motors we have built and don't see any problems with them. Just a side note Chevy guys have been using them for so long if they don't have a piston that needs them the think something is wrong. But that a Chevy thing they have to put 40 lbs of in a 10 lb...

Well the project has just taken a real turn....

Yes the K-frame has 3/4” blocks welded to the frame to get the engine lower in the inner fenders. I think it has to do with the steering column clearing the head. But that’s just a guess on my part. When I put the Hemi in my 67 Barracuda I made lowering blocks and welded them

Well the project has just taken a real turn....

Here are some pictures of an NOS Hemi K-frame that was used in a friend of mines 68 Dart. I don't have any pictures of the complete K-frame but some of these will help you out. Good Luck with your project

Cracked Valve Guide Pillars - OK to Use?

Yes that is a good way of looking at it. And I know you said the work was inexpensive but, if you paid someone for the work and then took it some where else and said take these apart and tell me what you think and they said looks like a cheap job done in a hurry is that what you want on your...

Cracked Valve Guide Pillars - OK to Use?

Like Rusty said someone just did a half *** job and didn’t take the time to clean up there work. There is probably nothing wrong with your head unless the new guide is worn. If I see the top of the guide chipped like in the picture of the eBay head if the guide is still good I just machine the...

    No compression-next move?

If you don't want to pull the cover right away. Just pull the valve covers and see if any of the push rods flop up and down if so just pull the engine because most likely there is also valve damage as well

    451 Build For the 67 JC B'Cuda

Looks good from what I can tell. My only comment would be if you stud the heads I don’t know if you had to remove the heads for some reason you can get them off with the engine in the car. Just keep that in mind. Good luck on your build

    440 troubles

I have my own machine shop and nothing ever left my shop looking like that. The bores look like they had water left in them that's why they look pitted they don't look like they have been bored. The cam bearings are shot they wouldn't last 5 mins and just waste your cam. If you have another...

    413 build - No Power - Won't even chirp a tire!?

Check to make sure the cam is degreed in I had that same cam in a 69 383 with 10.5 to 1 pistons and a stock intake, carb, and exhaust manifolds with a 10" turbo action converter and 3:55 gears and from a dead stop it would put down about a 100 feet of tire marks. The car ran a 14.20 burning the...

    500ci stroker problems

I don't know how it is in Victoria but here you must give the company the first right of refusal to make it whole again and most warranty's are at the manufacturers discretion to repair or replace. So I don't think a refund is in your future but if you have them take care of it I would ask for a...

What 10 1/2 street/strip clutch are you using?

I USE CENTERFORCE OR RAM. IN A STREET APPLICATION THE RAM MAY WORK BETTER FOR YOU. I RUN A CENTERFORCE IN MY RACE CAR AND A RAM DUAL DISC IN STREET CARS. JUST WHAT I DO. GOOD LUCK

Big Block Conversion, do it again?

Hell yes I would do it again but you haven't lived until you put a hemi in a a-body I did mine 67 convertible 15 years ago before you could get the nice k-frames and headers and yes it was a pain it the a** sometimes. There is lots of trial and error with things like headers, engine mounts...

    528 hemi swap

As soon as I find the spec sheets from Stage 5 I will be happy to post them for you. These heads are advertised to flow 10% more than stock heads. I built a 426 engine that was totally stock down to the carbs and the distributor but it was recurved customer had it dyno'ed a 490 ft lbs of torque...

    528 hemi swap

Yes it's a 440 .030 over with custom Aries pistons that have the pin location in the same as a stock 440 piston and the top of the piston is a Hemi 10.5 to 1 design. With the heads having raised exhaust ports and 2.25 intake valves and 1.90 exhaust valves. I also run 1.6 intake rockers and 1.7...

    528 hemi swap

Here is my 67 Barracuda with a 446 Hemi it's a 440 block with Stage 5 Hemi conversion heads on it. It is a tight but it fits just fine for me and if anyone needed to know what I had do to make it work with factory spool mounts. Let me know

    528 hemi swap

If your building it for the street I would run conversion mounts since I did mine 10 years ago I did rubber mounts I had wants to build a car that looked like the factory would have done it, but if it's more for race engine plate would help stiffen the front end and keep the engine in place.

    How to store engine?

You can disassemble it and get some CRC storage lube and spray the inside machine surfaces to prevent them from rusting then pack the parts in plastic bags and let them sit until you need them.

    Big Block Rocker Shaft Shims

I have used the shims to get the valve train geometry exactly were it needs to be. You need to move the rocker shafts up off the rocker stands to move tip of the rocker arm so that it meets the tip of the valve a little off center to the outside. As the rocker arms pushes down on the valve the...

    junkyard 440 approx price?

Darn I need whatever that guy is on just to ask that price. I had 15-18 440's out of C bodies with transmissions and sold all of them running and they could hear them run for 250-275 each and in some cases I though that mite be a little high because some of them had over 100000 miles on them and...

68 Dart 440 Daily Driver Build Thoughts

Welcome aboard, I would dial it back a little if you want to drive it every where. Lose some gear depending on your tire size and lose some cam but you may need more converter depending on the cam you decide to use. But no matter what you decide have fun. Good Luck pictures help to

    oil pan hitting

I don't know if this will help but is the center link straight or does it have a dip in it in the early a-body the six cylinders had a straight center link and when you do a v8 swap you need the dropped down one to clear the oil pan. Just a thought

    valve cover clearance

I had the same problem so I added 1 1/2" longer bolts and spacers to the heater box and cut the heater core tubes and soldered some copper tubing to it to lengthen the inlet and outlets. Were the heater box seals to the cowl i took 2 pieces of sheet metal riveted one to the top of the heater box...

    main cap question

You may be able to. But the mains will have to be line bored regardless. Main caps and rod caps are not just interchangeable they are machined once they are assembled to make them round and since we are talking about thousands of an inch it is very precise. I hope this answers your question Good...

advice on pulling 383 out of a body

When I did my 69 383 Barracuda I had to take the left manifold off to pull the engine and put it back in. But everything else was installed on the engine when I put it back in from the top. Good Luck
