If you don't want to pull the cover right away. Just pull the valve covers and see if any of the push rods flop up and down if so just pull the engine because most likely there is also valve damage as well

If your building it for the street I would run conversion mounts since I did mine 10 years ago I did rubber mounts I had wants to build a car that looked like the factory would have done it, but if it's more for race engine plate would help stiffen the front end and keep the engine in place.

Welcome aboard, I would dial it back a little if you want to drive it every where. Lose some gear depending on your tire size and lose some cam but you may need more converter depending on the cam you decide to use. But no matter what you decide have fun. Good Luck pictures help to

I don't know if this will help but is the center link straight or does it have a dip in it in the early a-body the six cylinders had a straight center link and when you do a v8 swap you need the dropped down one to clear the oil pan. Just a thought

You may be able to. But the mains will have to be line bored regardless. Main caps and rod caps are not just interchangeable they are machined once they are assembled to make them round and since we are talking about thousands of an inch it is very precise. When I did my 69 383 Barracuda I had to take the left manifold off to pull the engine and put it back in. But everything else was installed on the engine when I put it back in from the top. Good Luck

I use 5w30 motor oil with a friction modifier like Comp Cam or BG RF7 I do use 3 oil filters and 15 qt's of oil to break in a new engine.
