    Turning back the clock

For some reason, or other, I prefer the 30’s-40’s much better, even with this music. Guess I am old.

    Edie: The Dart

What is the tire and wheel size. I lucked out with mine, as I used a 17” x 8” rear wheel, and I can get my little finger between the fender edge and tire.

Denny, very nice. Good Iowa car hehehehe. Yes, I remember from where you got it. Never could figure out as to had this and other SS Mopars. You did well.

    Re: Help in Iowa

Thanks for that. You are very detailed in this, and I appreciate it. What you say makes sense. I have one of the old, original Valiant brochures, I should get it out and find out just what a S6 with torqueflight used from the factory. I’ll bet it was a 2.94.

    Re: Help in Iowa

Now to figure out the engine part. As for tools, I have basic tool, just not the latest up to date stuff than most of you all have. And if you are in the Chicago area, that's 5-6 hours, depending on how one goes. Thanks for the idea.

    Re: Help in Iowa

All that i can say for my thinking that it had a much steeper gear is, well it felt like it was. It seemed that the rpm was a lot higher than I thought that it should be, and I was comparing this to the other cars with rear wheel drive that I have had. Thanks for the many comments that I have...

    Re: Help in Iowa

Well yesterday, we crawled under the little guy, and found out some interesting things. One, the 3rd member housing is a 741 case. But, the good part is that it is a suregrip, and works. Now for the gear ratio, and this is the old fashioned way, it is seems that this is either, a 3:23 or a 3:55...

    Re: Help in Iowa

It has a torque flight, 727, with an upgraded torque converter, I was told when I bought this car. It does have a shift kit in it, as well. As I said earlier, this car was raced the first couple of years after it was built in 2011. That’s why it had the 4:ll’ s in it. I guess what I have figured...

    Re: Help in Iowa

Thanks, we’ll look at that. The compression is 11-1, and that is why I’m looking at a rebuild. It’s .060 over now, I don’t know how much a 360 can take. This engine was built in 2011, and I have a feeling that it was run pretty hard after that. I talked to the guy that I bought it from, but he...

    Re: Help in Iowa

Thanks, hadn’t thought about valve seals. I have found a Mopar guy that has a machine shop. He was recommended to me any a race engine builder, whose shop built me a W-2 355” motor back in the 90’s. He can’t do anything until Fall, and I would like to drive it this summer. Actually, what we re...

    Re: Help in Iowa

I can deal with that as I will be adding power with the engine rebuild. Seriously, it is almost not streetable in the condition that is is now. That’s why it sat almost all summer. I took it to two rod runs, and that was it. Maybe 100 miles. I want to be able to drive it, and yes, have power...

    Re: Help in Iowa

Thanks for that. When we got it first running, it really was bad, but then it got better after we put in a ignition change, and smaller AFB type Edelbrock carburetor. Also, ditched the leaking headers and put 340 hp manifolds on it. Still awfully loud though.

    Re: Help in Iowa

Sounds pretty good. I’m thinking that going thru the motor, a cam replacement, and take a look at the compression. I was told that these were 10.5 to 1. Another question mark. There’s also some question as to the displacement too. It has a lot of torque.

    Re: Help in Iowa

Hi there, it’s been a long time since I posted here on this A-Bodies Only site. Well here it goes. I have a 69 Valiant, in my profile picture here, and we need help. This past summer, at the GoodGuys here in Des Moines, my son following me said that there was quite a bit of black smoke from one...

    68 Dart SEDAN Restoration

Also the manifold nearly fell off. I don't think I can do cross-country trips in this car like I wanted to. Maybe I'll get a K-car instead. Don’t loose the faith!

    68 Dart SEDAN Restoration

Nicely done, those slant 6/s are just about bullet proof if you get them past 10,000 miles. Same usually goes for the old 318. Yeah, right tell us more when you get to the LED's.

A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

Drag radials don't appreciate 30 degree weather either, as I found out in December here in Iowa. I went to the QT store to check my air pressure, topped all t he tires off, then left. Got on it a bit in second gear of the torque flight and WA LAAAAAA. It's been a long time since fish tailed...

    1967 Dart GT 273 4 Barrel

Very nice car. That 8 track definitely reminds me of the one I had in my 67 GTX back in those days. As well as your 273 Hi Performance emblems. I put those on my GTX just to confuse others in Waterloo where I lived then. There were many that just thought my GTX ran awfully well for just having...

Back in 82, I picked up a Deuce Coupe...(32 Ford) in Plevna, Montana, so I'm familiar, a little anyway, with that part of Montana. Just returned from a swing into the West with my wife. The Building of the Blue Mistic

I probably missed it, but what did you have to do, to get that modern Mopar transmission in that Dart? Otherwise in my case, I'll probably go torqueflight with a gear venders overdrive but don't know yet. I'm open to suggestions. Will be going with 6.1.

The Building of the Blue Mistic

I like that idea too. When we start on my Valiant that willl be one of my modifications too. I remember all too well that front end twist. That was in my 6-Pak 440 Rat Trap. R/T.

I"m pretty sure that it wound up in Danville, Illinois where my Valiant is. By the way, it was painted White too, and looks very nice. I thought that I had a couple of pictures of it, but I must have lost them when I got my iPhone 6. #-o By the way, did you ever get those trunk drip rails...
