How important is the oil slinger?

So last night I put the engine and transmission in the car to realize this morning I forgot to put the oil slinger on. I really don't want to pull the harmonic balancer, water pump, and timing cover if I don't have to. Any thoughts? If it is crucial I will do it. Thanks

    340 motor mount question

this may be a dumb question, but do I have these motor mounts on correctly? Do they go behind the two bolt tabs like I have them?

Is it safe to use this timing cover?

This is off my 1969 dart, the corrosion from the radiator fluid has left the wall thickness a little over 1/8" at its thinnest part. Am I going to be okay using the provided paper gasket? Any suggestions?

Can someone tell me where these go?

Dumb of me not to pay attention to this, but removed engine and transmission and these came from somewhere. I'm starting to reassemble the car and need to know where these go. Thanks in advance.

    Cam suggestions

Ok, I've read what you've all said and decided to just stay stock. I found two contradictory "stock cam" parts. One was from Yearone.com, Replacement O.E.M. hydraulic camshaft for 1968-1971 340 275 hp engines, 1970 340 290 hp engines, and 1972-1973 340 240 hp engines. Part...

It is the stock torque converter, gear ratio not sure (I think it's 3.23), tire size 205/70R14. Thanks for the feedback

    Cam suggestions

i know I'm probably beating a dead horse by asking this question, but I want a cam that can be used with stock everything on a 340 swinger motor. I don't want anything crazy, just a little bump in performance. Will Comp cams xe268 work? If not does anyone know the correct specifications on a...

I keep breaking rocker arm bolts, help please!

i tried the "bolt-out" reverse drill bits with no success and I didn't want to keep drilling for fear of doing serious damage, so I took the head to a machine shop. They couldn't get the broken bolt out either, so they sent it to another machine shop with a "edm machine" which uses electric...

Making my Dart road trip worthy

Hi everyone, I've got a few questions about what I should do to my Dart to make it road trip worthy. I want to take my car on the Hotrod Power Tour, or at least a leg or two of it, and I am not sure what should be looked at and replaced to take on such a journey. My Dart is a 1969 340...

I keep breaking rocker arm bolts, help please!

Thanks everyone! As soon as I drill out this last bolt I will torque them down to 17ft/lbs w/o oil.

I keep breaking rocker arm bolts, help please!

Why am I having trouble torqueing down the rocker arm bolts? Its a 340, original x heads ( have been cleaned and magnafluxed) and I'm using the original bolts. I oil the bolts and start torqueing at a lower torque value and work my way up to 30ft/lbs. I've broken two off in the drivers side...

    Cylinder head question....

This may be a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway....Does it matter which cylinder head goes on which side of the motor? I took the cylinder heads off to have hardened valve seats put in, but after the estimate and possible problems that might happen to them, I decided not to go...

    340 head bolt question...

And another question....for the exhaust bolts/studs, the studs go on the outside and bolts go in between them?

    340 head bolt question...

Okay, so I'm an idiot. I pulled the heads off my 340 motor last summer to have hardened valve seats put in, after getting the estimate I decided not to and just put them back on. My problem is I didn't label any bolts for puting them back on. I noticed that the new head bolt kits have...
