    Shaft should not be bent,lower arm when installed should be level. From what you are describing the case shift lever is to long, they do have different lengths, you need one that rod hole is closer to selecting shaft of valve body! Linkage adjusts in neutral position. Lon

    There are two different rear seals for 904 trans , pre 72 and post 72 the original seal for pre 72 is a smaller out side diameter than the post 72. pre 72 seal is getting harder to locate as most parts stores don't have the early listing and usually have to order it in.     Push the seal down till it stops then install the wire clip the same way till it stops then install the gear, it should turn stiff with new seals.... Lon

    Don't use the Lucas, it is a seal softener, it might stop it for a while but it don't know when to quit and you will be pulling the trans out to reseal it in a short order meaning not only the front seal but all the rubber in the trans. Are you sure it's not the case lever seal at the shifter...

    Yes add a spring to pull lever forward to stay in contact with cable movement to get proper closed throttle up shifts. This applies to both cable or rod style linkages. Lon

    Take the snap.ring off the output shaft ,pull out front planetary and check splines inside planetary to shaft thy will be pulled out. Bad front planetary, try to find a steel carrier to replace aluminum one. Lon

    That is the top end loop from the reverse band anchor strap, that's why the rear band was not working correctly. Strap breaks off and rear servo can't apply the band fully. Pull it out there is no incar fix for it!!! Lon

    46RE Shifting Issues

    With the temp sensor reading -8 it may have oil in the case connecter.oil infiltrated in the connector is a common issue that will give the computer all kinds of goofy readings. If oil in it you will need to change the shift sol. and internal wiring, valve body will need to come out to change it

    Might also have a crack in the convertor hub, common problem with mid year 904 convertors. They will crack from the pump drive gear notches out past the seal area causing a leak.
