IMO without being there and being you already checked the wheel bearings, I think your power steering pump bearings went out. I have had PS pumps squeel when bad.

I think prior to 72 is orange.....on My 72 I had to use blue but wanted to use orange..... I dont know the paint code..... Someone else with more experience can answer this for sure.

Did you notice on your diagram the two rods labeled 14-11-9? Which rod do you need the measurement of? Upper short one or lower long one?

On my '73 the rod is flat and not round. It measured 6 1/2" with a 2" slot in one end. (1 barrel My '72 with a 2 barrel measure 7 1/4" with a curved 2" slot in one end. The rest of the brackets look the same as the diagram except my rod is a flat bar. I see in your diagram there are two rods...

I rebuilt mine somewhere over 300,000....speedo cable broke just over 300,000 so I did not know the exact mileage. Too much smoke and finally tossed a rod. I made it 44 miles toward home with the rod knocking! This was the orange '72 Valiant.

A lower temp thermostat usually causes the vehicle to run hotter. A higher temp thermostat will lower engine temps. When lower temp is used the coolant in the radiator doesn't have enough time to cool down. When a higher temp is used the radiator gets cooler thereby lowering your engine temp.

Yeah I screwed up disgust; they were both on the motors when I bought them and I just checked and they both have a block off plate. I just hadn't noticed them before. I may install the extra 2brrl intake and carb on the '73 3spd.

I wish I could help you; but both my super sixes were already set up. I did end up using a Lokar throttle cable on a 318 and it was an easy install. I had to use it because someone replaced the kickdown with a Lokar and the OEM throttle would not work easily.

SSD Thanks. I read all the threads I could find on this before I posted but was still a little confused. Vacuum amplifier is still hooked up but the PO unhooked the OSAC valve. And one line from the VAC Amp is plugged. I will clean things up, check the accel pump, check again for vacuum leaks...

I found some at Advanced Auto. They showed 2 styles available...... vent ridges and smooth ones.

I would say to keep the 6; but then again I do prefer the sixes.
