I figured it out since my truck has a "spark computer" and originally one wire went from there to the neg side of coil and I guess my coil was to much for it so I took it off and it ran alot better

I drove it runs like crap. I adjusted the advance curve on it and it feels good when idling but as soon as I go down the road it's just sputtering non stop

Well I'm gona drive it tomorrow to c if it'll smooth out as the fresh gas gets up

That's exactly how I wired it as they show in the instructions of the dist. Since the truck sat for almost a yr I'm kinda thinking its the gas in the truck is bad but I'm not totally sure

Before I bought the dist and coil summit and msd told me that it doesn't plug into the stock harness cause my stock dist is a dual pick up coil. The msd wiring is on wire goes to coil positive other goes to coil neg another to engine ground and the last wire is a tach signal

There's only 2 wires that go to the dist nd as for comp there's only one on the air cleaner and that I believe just measure air intake or something

What is like to have in there is a msd ignition my truck has no vac adv but yet it's an 84 and I like the way it runs just wish I could go to a 4bbl

Ya I think ill stick to a chain and get rid of my vac adv dist

to b honest idk if this engine has the original chain and gear set. the engine in car is not the original one the engine i was told from a '68 pickup

i had some one tell me to get a timing gear drive set instead of a gear and chain set since mine feels like theres to much slop in the chain when i changed the fuel pump what would you guys recommend?

That's a possible chance cause even with the 2bbl this thing was never able to smoke the tires even tho the guy I bought it off of said he smoked the tires in parking lot like nothing

I'm possibly thinkin my chain is to loose cause I was movin it when I had the fuel pump out and it was movin bout 1/2in or morr

It's a new carb and I haven't given it full throttle even I go slow it stil does it I guess I should say it starts missing and I dnt c gas goin on the butterflies at idle

Ok well I was movin the dist in the wrong direction it's set to 10 before top dead runs alil better but still chugs right before I get to half throttle before it was bout quarter when it started to chug

i was turning it counter clockwise and it was showin retarding it my vac adv is almost pointing straight forward if not point pretty close to cyl 2 or 4

well i switched it cause thats what was in the car and i didnt like the way hose was ran right under the crank pulley i changed the timing cover pump balancer and all i needed i was told it would work as long as the balancer was 90 degrees from the older one im just curious on what someone would...
