Post Your - Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial 275/60/15

M/T 275/60/15. Driven back and forth to the track (80 miles one way) through NYC traffic. 15 x 8 rims, can't remember the backspace. 10 x 2.5" LBP rear drum brakes, Moser axles, Dr. Diff offset shackles, Caltracs +1" over stock, bars in lower hole. 165/65/R15 front tires. Air the tires up...

What happened to 70's style centerline wheels?

Check these out; http://www.trickwheels.com/wheels/ A friend of mine makes those wheels. They are forged, one piece and CNC machined. The original aluminum ones from the '70s were two piece and would bend if street driven. He made them specifically to get the authentic look with modern...

    front skinny for the street?

I run the old 165/15 Kelley Metric radials on 15 x 3.5 Centerlines. No problems here, drives fine. I'm not autocrossing the thing though. Coker and Summit sell the Vredestein brand radials in 165/15 size for the VW crowd. They have a high speed rating and look vintage. They run about $110...

Leave sbp or switch to lbp

I actually have SBP on the front and LBP on the rear. Over the last year I converted my car to front disks but stayed with the SBP. After that I put a new set of Moser axles in and had to sort out the rear drums. Though I didn't know until I took it apart, the previous owner of my car had the...

Have YOU Run 5x100 and had Failure First Hand?

 I think the only thing that we need to get to the bottom of is why you are still trying to figure out whether this is going to work. It's not! How much more convincing do you need? Get the right wheels for the car, period. Spend some coin on decent tires instead. Frankly, those...

Have YOU Run 5x100 and had Failure First Hand?

Yeah, I don't understand why this is an even a question. Sometimes you have to make a compromise. Your daughter will thank you when her wheels stay on the car. Even if someone had first hand experience with failure or not, why would trust an opinion over the internet? And if there was a...

    15x8 Rear Wheel on a stock 65 Barracuda ??

I've posted this so many times, should be a sticky... anyway I ran 15" x 8" with 4.875" backspace. 245/60/15 tires fit NO PROBLEM. The rims were from Wheel Vintiques. They can make any wheel you want. However, there is one caveat - I did replace my leaf springs with new ones from ESPO that...

    {{{ need advice - your thoughts ????? }}}

Yea, fronts can be tricky too, wider ones do rub. Cant think of any factory A body cars with 7 inch rims on the front. I have 245/60/14 on the front of my 71 Dart which rub bad when I drive over my driveway apron on an angle. On the Valiant I ran 15 x 5 with either 205 or 215/60/15.

    {{{ need advice - your thoughts ????? }}}

Rick, I had a 65 Valiant that I was able to run 245/60/15 on. Rims were Wheel Vintiques 15 x 8 w. 4.875 in. backspace. Stock 7.25, stock wheel wells, new ESPO springs arched 2 in. over stock. Never had an issue unless I had two 200+ lb. guys in the back. :thumleft:

show off your old school slot mags.

I got a set of Fenton Gyros for the front of my Dart, 15' x 3.5'. Early Pro Stock style. Sorry no pics of them on the car.

    15's on a 63 Valiant

I basically had the same thing but yours is a little nicer. 15 x 8 on the back 4.875" backspace and 15 x 5 on the fronts. The tires were 245/60 15 and the fronts were 205s. ESPO springs arched 2" over stock - no rubbing. Car is long gone...

    255/60/15 - stock 70-72 Dart

Hey JoeDust451, what rear brakes are you using? I have LBP Moser axles and a stock-length A-body 8 3/4 housing. As I understand it, the 11" brakes everyone uses with the LBP push everything out, further decreasing the little room you already have.

    255/60/15 - stock 70-72 Dart

Was just using some of the online calculators for optimum tire/gearing. It looked like I'd need more gear for a certain RPM. I put in 5,800 as my redline for a stock bottom end 318 running at 105 mph and it came up with 25.97". If I'm anywhere up over that mph, I need more tire or gear. It's not...

    255/60/15 - stock 70-72 Dart

Was going by the specs on the M/T website which says 27.1", never had a set in my hands to actually measure.Curious to hear what they measure when you get them mounted.

    255/60/15 - stock 70-72 Dart

Cool, looks good! Since I started this thread, I've been doing a little research into tire size/gearing. Seems like the best overall tire diameter with the 4.10 gear I have would be 26". For best performance with the 255 (27" diameter) I probably would need a 4.30 gear. I believe that 4.10 is...

    3.5 front wheel pics

Here's a pic of the wagon with the 165SR15 tires on the front. Looks odd in this application but as Joe said, would look good on a Dart.

    3.5 front wheel pics

At E-Town two months ago I saw a gi-normous late '60's Biscayne big block wagon with a set of those on the front though they looked a little odd in those giant wheel wells. They were Michelin 165SR15 XZX. I plan on getting a set of those when I get around to putting my Fenton Gyro front runners...

    255/60/15 - stock 70-72 Dart

Hey Doug, looks good. Thanks for your efforts on this, that's what I was looking for. I went out and checked - I have a set of large bolt steelies - 15 x7 with 4.25" backspace. Guess I should be good to go. I had the idea to go to a tire shop and see if they could mount a junk set of that...

    255/60/15 - stock 70-72 Dart

Hey, that's good news. Now the only remaining question is whether or not the '66 wheel wells are the same dimensions as the '71... I actually planned to ask Calvert to arch the springs over stock height just to be sure. Maybe I don't have to.

    255/60/15 - stock 70-72 Dart

I was planning on upgrading to Moser large bolt pattern axles but was going to get 'em in standard a-body length. That's a big part of the budget right there, hence trying to make it work without buying more stuff. I have the backing plates that came with the housing so 2" brakes it is. Good...

Yeah? That's what I was thinking. Did you have to move the springs in or trim the lip?

    255/60/15 - stock 70-72 Dart

OK, I'm looking for a definitive answer here. Went through a lot of old threads but could not find the exact answer I need. Sorry if this seems repetitive. I am trying to plan out a wheel/tire combo for my '71 Dart. I am hoping to fit a 255/60/15 M/T Drag Radial in the stock wheel well with the...

    245 60 14 on 69 Dart

Man, that's around the same size as a 255/60/15 drag radial. That's the tire I was hoping to get under my '71 Dart without moving anything. Not to hi-jack this thread, but I'd really love to hear definitively that someone is running 255/60/15's on a stock spring location Dart with no issues...

Anyone running M&H Muscle Car tires?

I looked into those for my Dart. I wanted a set for street driving with Coker Pro-Trac front runners to get 'the look'. Then I was going to get another set altogether for when I take the car to the track - Moroso fronts and M/T drag radials. That's like $2K worth of tires.

Poll, go polyglass or stay radial!

To me 'totally stock' would indicate bias plies, no? Radials weren't around back then. Go Polyglass.

    wheel adapters

Can anyone else corroborate why wheel adapters are a bad idea? Inquiring minds want to know. I have a set and mine are actually Mopar Performance. My gut tells me if they were a bad idea the MP wouldn't put their name on them.

    Unilug wheels

Thanks guys, your replies confirm my suspicions. There's a pair of wheels in an auction that are unilug which I dig but I'm going to pass on them. They sound like a headache.

    Unilug wheels

Anyone running Unilug rims? Any problems with this set up or should I pass for the correct bolt pattern? Are those unilug washers available anywhere? Any safety concerns? Thanks, Greg
