Let me first say I DO NOT HAVE any tailpipes.... ,Ok now I have dual pipes on my 273 with 14" Dynomax super turbos 2.5 in/2.5 out. At idle sounds good, at cruising speed sounds good...But driving through the neighborhood 1000 rpm- 1600 rpm It is dump truck/Harley DRONE LOUD. And I do not like...

Thanks for the info. As far as flow goes, I've only got a 273/ and with duals I can't see that much of a problem. 2.5 in/2.5out

The Quiet flow number is 21860. I need a 2.5 in and a 2.5 out.

Can anyone tell me how much difference there is between the Dynomax Super turbo mufflers 20" case 17748....and the Walker Quiet flow mufflers? I'm looking for less sound. Don't care so much about flow.

Thanks, I was hoping someone would reply. Right now I have the 14" super turbos. But I would like a tamer (but not grandma) exhaust sound.

Has anyone switched from the Dynomax super turbo 14" case mufflers, and went to the Dynomax super turbo 20" case mufflers? If so was there much difference in the sound, and loudness? were the 20" quieter ?

I would have not ever bought flowmasters...they were on it when I bought it.:protest:

I've only driven short distances (few miles) so I have not got a good idea of what I'm up against yet. But I'm learning to like quieter cars....I really am getting old.

Do you get much drone at cruising speed 2000 or so RPM. Able to talk to people with out yelling?

When I bought my 64 A100 (273) it has 2.5" pipes and flowmaster 50 series muffler and turndowns in front of the axle. It is louder that what I would like (inside and out) . If I add tail pipes all the way to the back ,will that quiet things down much? or should I get a pair of turbo mufflers...

I think I need to put on a set of exhaust manifold gaskets. I found victor stamped steel MS15136 that have a heat shield that goes around the plug boots. Would that be a good thing, or jus get in the way changing plugs ?

So the long looped spring goes closest to the counter weight, and then the thermo spring is closest to the manifold. What year /engine car are you looking at ?

The kit that I may be able to get has the small rattle spring, Large circle coil thermo spring, and somewhat weird long flatish looped @ each end spring. So would the flatish/looped at ends spring be used . I've seen that spring on big blocks, but not sure on small blocks. I have googled it...

Can anyone get me some pictures of their small block heat risers? the round weight type (1972). Mine is gone, my have found a kit. Not sure of how the springs went, and if there were 1 or 2 near the weight side. plus the small rattle spring. Thanks
