yep off thread but i 100% AGREE HERE. im tired of that old argument. long rod motors add power but do more especially reliability.. good call. i had to edit it here cause i forgot to mention the 225 slant has a rod ratio almost the same as a 350 chevy if i remember right but he loves the ratio...

this is the facts right here. The saying i here all the time is chevys are cheaper. the come back for me is whats cheaper stock or modified cause you have to spend alot on a chevy to beat my mopar( and the point of the thread chevys have better exhaust ports obviously there are a ton of reasons...

agree again and to add this is less about bashing UT its trying to get the truth out there so that others are successful on what there working on. Im sure i could have found more channelsw to bash but this vid smacked of misinformation.

50% at best. My problem is that i dont have time to research all that false information so when is see it i stop watching. the reason for the rant is this reason. But it was because a good friend came to me asking me about what he had seen so I watched and yes i got overboard i guess but im not...

    SMALL BLOCK HEADS

This is a (within reason) type answer to your question...I dont know witch one would be max lower ET in this case i would do the exhaust first but in my way of thinking this is 2 mods. header, dual, but i would never build this way if i was going for performance of any kind because a port cant...

No i do not but i dont agree with you either. the port is not garbage but it is poor in my way of thinking. there are worse. the map gas example is a garbage not poor

this is true Rumble a lot to be gained here but my test @273 CFM was done with only the pinch area polished and these numbers are unattainable by a chevy casting of the same vintage. with the pinch cut out *** much as posible without any mods i have gotten 280 CFM these are very similar numbers...

this post is not about intake its about exhaust. the intake is more important then the exhaust is for performance.(within reason). thats why i bring it up if it was just exhaust and that was it then leave a 2 barrel on your 318 and your good to go. flow numbers are a response to someone in my...

    SMALL BLOCK HEADS

the biggest advantage as far as flow goes on 18 degree is un shrouding valves. Its also easier to achieve more compression without a dome. that being said un shrouding a chevy head if you could to the max will not let it flow sbm numbers. that is taking in consideration port angle, cross...

I shouldn't do this but I cant help myself. Someone just posted a vid on youtube explaining why small blocks are so good. Folks this is the most inaccurate vid I have seen in a long time. Small block 340 and 360 head have poor exhaust ports and good intake ports. The intake port is a large...

    273 vs 318

i get it what your saying now. your talking head diff and cube diff is off by 30 40. i was thinking your were saying the head was off that far. my testing on 1.88 2.02 averages 10- 15 but the numbers do very from head to head quit a bit so even at twenty your close

    273 vs 318

i think there is only 1 reason anymore to put a 340 in a car. your restoring a original muscle car that came with one. 340 is a great factory piece with all the great numbers to produce high factory power with tons of flexibility. 360 is the bigger brother of 340 with all the smog. heads up...

    273 vs 318

basically agreed here but with one exception, the 360 head (non magnum)head flow is a very small number off on stock 340 head. the main diff in these heads is the intake valve, 202 for 340 till 72 were it was changed to 188, 360 heads were 188. 1970 340 head actually have 360 cast on them on the...

You need to look into carb tuning see were that is. Rumble got the right idea here if you don't change any thing else a more agressive cam will help. Please do not believe the advance curve is to fast. When you changed the timing from 35 to 30 you changed initial to 10. reduce the amount of...

    pcv sucking oil ?

is this carb a double pumper if so adjust the secondary pump to .030 and then more if needed. there is also a second position on your pump cam that may help you if you change that. i would not think it to be a jet size issue. if the smoke is on initial throttle push wide open. if it is blue...

    Stroked 340 vs Stroked 360

    Stroked 340 vs Stroked 360

the larger mains on a 360 are no longer a issue with bearing speed with the new oils out there. and back in the day when they were being raced competively this was still not a issue unless you were running circle track(sustained rpms at 7000 and higher). it still was not a issue if you ran a oil...

the oil pans are different for truck and car and the 318 pan is diff from 360. you can swap the oil pick up but the pan around the rear main is different so you will need to deal with that.
