Looked at the balancer and it does not have any words as to " 340 cast crank only" on it. Just wanted to make sure of what it is because I ordered a convertor for it. Do the cast crank motors need a different convertor as the forged motors?

I have a 340 that's going into my dart this winter and I'm looking for some exh. manifolds. ? is are the 68/69 manifolds any better then the 72 and up 340 manifolds? I I have a chance to buy either set. Is there much HP to gain with the earlier set?

Thanks, A guy has a '74 complete 318 for sale. Wanna rebuild something on the cheap and get a little power out of it. I see a lot of guys are getting these 318 to run decent and making some decent power. I already have a set of J heads,a '70 340 intake and a std. steel crank to use.

When buying a 318 is there any one year that is better then the others or what year(s)would be the preferred year(s) over the others?

A gentleman in my area has a 72 340 for sale. It is a 72 340 with J heads that have the 2.02 valves in them. The date on the block is 5-29-72. My question is would this 340 have a steel or cast crank. I thought I had read somewhere that late 72 340's switched to cast. Thanks

Trying to figure out what heads these are.I was told they came off a 340 but not sure.They are J(3418915-2.02 heads).The date codes are 03180 and 03160.I think that is March 16 & 18 1970?They also have a code that reads AAWJ 360 on them.The bottom of each head has a large U on them with 3418915...
