    727 poly engine transmission

I won't quote all of your posts so you can go back and change all of the mis-information. You said 303, not me. If you meant the Spitfire 301 then that is what you should have said. I made NO reference to your truck. You did refer to the Chrysler and DeSoto, and I quote "The first modern...

    727 poly engine transmission

If I seem a bit 'uncivil', then it comes from seeing so much bogus info on the web that gets passed as fact...as to the engine info you present, in oem form it simply never happened... The 303 was a Canadian PLYMOUTH engine, same as the 313. No, the post 62 trans is not a direct bolt up, it...

    727 poly engine transmission

There is so much, in some of the above posts, that is just plain WRONG, that I hardly know where to start. Since this forum is focused on A-bodies and the attendant engines, please don't venture into the wacky world of the EarlyHemi unless you actually know what the hell you are talking...

    360 and A833 swap?

    1. depends on spline count. count asnd compare 2. use pass car brackets 3. yes, the 360 uses a specific flywheel, but also, the chosen flywheel must match the chosen bell. 130t and 143 tooth wheels are not interchangeable.

What the hell is going on with shops?

Where, exactly, does one find a 'delete my post' function? Cold fingers on a keyboard make for double posts and, well, you get the idea. The 'edit' button seems to indicate a 'delete' function, but, alas, not to be found by casual observation. Any help appreciated so I can make this post go-away.

    Trans issues

Dakota and Durango are essentially the same vehicle...and very few Durangos have a manual trans. The Dak trans should be the same as the truck, BUT, why not take a couple pics of each an compare them?? Don't worry about one or the other having an electric speedo as they completely interchange. .

Does anybody use ax-15 or NV500 (??) trannys from dakotas?

Gear ratios are not 'terrible'...3.83, 2.33, 1.44, 1.00, 0.79 Some of the AX15 shift smooth, probably an individual trans issue. The AX15 was used with the 5.2 so...

Check the tooth count on the new application...it might be 143 and your earlier wheels have 130. They are considerably different in OD.

What kind of transmission do I get?

...county fairgrounds... ...and 360Conquest has a good idea about the AX15 trans, but as noted a tunnel will be needed. The AX15 will be less money than the A-833 if you have time and ability to do the sheet metal work.

What kind of transmission do I get?

You have good access to several Major swap meets, Puyallup has 1 or 2 each month from now through the fall. Next up is Feb 11-12 for a general hi-perf meet and then Feb 18-19 for the Early Bird meet. March 17-18 for the Almost Spring meet, and then the big Portland meet 12-15...almost TOO big...

I'll some additional confusion to this thread... You must keep in mind the change in the block and crank design for the '62 model year. The big issue with this is that both early and late designs have been found in '62 models...left over inventory I assume. The beauty of this...

Any easy options for Overdrive on an RB????

..I should have used more words in my reply... Obviously the tailshaft is unique to the OD units. I am not a trans guy so was curious if, other than the tailshaft, the main cases were similar enough to swap the OD specific parts, if any existed.

Any easy options for Overdrive on an RB????

IIRC, there is an adapter to run a small block trans behind a B. Find a good trans guy to see if a B case will hold the OD guts. ...and who is Shirley? .

4 speed 26 spline vs 30 spline output

383 and 400 used the 26 spline...why should you worry? I have the 23 in my 73RoadRunner with a warm 440 and have no issues or concerns. In fact it is the original trans for the car (400-4v) and I have never had to open it up... Quit over thinking the issue......

    1955 savoy Plymouth

All A series engines, up to 1962, share the same bellhousing and crank designs and are also the same as the EarlyHemi engines including the Poly engines that are based on the Hemi. A 55 Ply would have used the 260 v-8 which is a Poly version of the Dodge Red Ram 241 Hemi. Short answer: any A...

    Push Button Automatic

I should have been more specific...1965 was the change-over year and parts swaps can be a little frustrating if you are chasing a dead end. The factory parts manual shows both styles of u-joint being used in '65 with an indication that the Dart/Valiant used the trunion. .
  25. wayfarer

    Push Button Automatic

The driveshaft/trunion bearing issue can be resolved by using the tail shaft from a 65 trans. You could also just use a 65 trans with a 64 valve body to maintain the PB drive. The 65 valve body has a slight different fulcrum in the shift linkage and doesn't work properly with the PB. Floor...

    How to pick a cam

One of the issues with cam selection for those who do it only occasionally, is the sheer number of different profiles available, and far too many, IMO, that are little more than duplicates of one-another. 5 speed conversion 68 cuda

I can't speak to floor mods, but I do know that the AX-15 is slightly bigger than a A-833, and be assured that the Getrag 238 6 speed is bulky. Be sure that you are happy with the gear ratios before making alot of mods. .
