Picked this up today. Pretty cool 1969 vintage Sun 504 distributor machine. You really don't realize how bad you've dicked up your distributor until you've spun it on this thing.

Is this a radio noise suppressor? If so, what side of the coil does it go on, and is it correct for 71 model year 440

Can anyone explain the purpose and correct operation of this advance unit? 1971 Dodge 440 4bbl/six pack. It ties in with the carb idle solenoid I think, which makes me think it retards the timing when the key is shut off???
