    Welder Advice Needed

I'm thinking of picking up a small MIG welder from a liquidator. At my previous employer we had a MIG set up w/ a gas cylinder. This el-cheapo version appears to be strictly electric. I have 220 service in the house & garage, but is it worth buying for small projects? I'm not looking to build...

    Cuda Capers 3-27-10

This should really be a continuation of last weeks thread, but what the Hell.... This morning I trekked out to American Muffler on Merrick Road in Baldwin to have my sub-frame connectors welded in. Ricky did a great job and had it done in no time. Here's Ricky welding one in. These guys are...

    `Cuda Capers Returns!

First off, half of the issues we have been dealing with have been resolved. Unfortunately, it was all the problems I was having with the state, as we still have concerns over my Wife's Father, Brother, and yes... even our old Dog's health. But on the up-side I had a good dose of therapy as I...

    Cuda Capers: The End

I wish there was a way how I can actually post my feelings. I know I don't always have the right answer, or attitude... at times. But I try to do what I can. I also know some of our membership would love to mix it up with me, but that's to be expected with a group this large. I also break balls...

    Tuning Question

I had her out again for about an hour yesterday and I must say..... NO ISSUES! But I do have a question: How do these plugs look? I thought they looked pretty good considering I was driving around town with no highway action. This is what came out of cylinder #2: I'm running 64's in the...

    Wadda ya think?

Aside from killing my computer earlier this week (that's why I haven't been around much...) I've been wrenching away on the old `Cuda. Here's a few recent shots: Cosmetically, she's done. The only thing left are the side spears that go on the rocker panel gills....and they have to be...

    Went out for a cruise...

Tom stopped by and I promised him a ride in the car. I pulled it out and headed for gas. Then we started driving....and driving.....and driving. We were out & about for almost an hour and I was in heaven. The car ran beautifully! I let Tom drive it and he was impressed with the way she rides and...

    `Cuda Capers: We're almost there....

Today was another day of doing 101 little things and not realizing 8 hours has gone by..... But a whole buncha little things got done: I carpeted the trunk divider, wired in another electronic flasher relay for the 4-ways (When using LED's for tail, brake, & directionals you need to do this so...

It's been a week of thrashing away, and I'm *almost* there. But the bad news is I'm not gonna make it to my club's cruise this afternoon.... DAMN IT! But I am making progress: I applied a quick coat ot POR-15 on the floorboards. I had a few spots where it was starting to surface rust, so I...

Tonight we finished gluing the rear carpet onto the cargo side panels and the deck. I have that spread out on the living room floor in the house clamped and drying. Not to mention the contact cement smell.... My GAWD does that %$#@ STINK! Good thing my tenant is away. I also found out why my...

I spent the entire day chasing down 101 little things. You know.... hunt for glove box latch....wire in electronic flasher relay so the LED's work....wire reverse lights....steal windshield mouldings off of the Dart to install on the Barracuda....glue carpet onto interior cargo panels....etc...

    Glass is IN !!!

Yup, my Buddy Tom came over and we had it done in about 2 hours for the front and rear. The windshield was a piece of cake.... that back window was a pain. But regardless, it's DONE. A little sealant.... Start from the bottom getting the windshield to seat.... Work your way up the sides...

    Cuda Capers 9-06-08

Well, today I set myself back at LEAST another week because I had the glazier STANDING IN MY GARAGE when I realized that I had to not only drill out 15 screw holes, but I had to install all the trim clips BEFORE the glass goes in. Glazier said "Call us when your ready..." and left. His...

    Glazier on his way over!

Hopefully the next time I post I'll be well on my way to having the car done. I have the glaziers coming to the house this morning to install the windshield & back window. This is soooo cool. It *might* be driveable this week!

    Headliner is done...

Yup, I got it done. As per our fellow member SNAKE's advice I plan on removing the remaining few wrinkles and stick the glass and interior in next week. Then can, dare I even say it..... DRIVE this %$#@#$% car! These few wrinkles *should* come out. If not, so be it. I gave it my best shot.

    Headliner is IN!!!!!!!!

Yup... I won my personal battle with my cars headliner. It's installed....and it looks pretty good no less! I've been fighting with this Damn thing for MONTHS and for some reason I went to the garage and just did it. 1...2...3...done. I just have to glue the drivers side roof rail, but otherwise...

    It Finally Runs!!!!!

Yup.... all better now. Twist the key and the sunofabitch RUNS! Pretty good no less, but not without a small dose of drama...... I swapped out the Crane roller rockers, which weren't set up properly, and installed the stock rockers and pushrods. The rollers were riding the edge of the valve...

    It's ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

.....well, sort of. Aside from an incorrectly adjusted valve and a small oil leak at the back of intake, the sunofabitch runs. The valvetrain noise and leak require the intake and valve covers have to come off, but hey...what else would I do with my spare time? Here's a short vid of some...

    Things to do....

I haven't been around for a while because I've been spending all my spare time screwing around with my car. I have all the wiring run and properly routed. Relays and the auxilary fuse panel are done. Tach is wired. All I have left (besides that $#@!@#$ headliner and finally glass & interior) is...

    Todays Capers... 6-29-08

I installed the recovery tank this afternoon and I straightened out some loose connections on my NEW Year 1 dash harness...... Here's a fast how-to on my installation: I found the spot next to the passenger side radiator to be the obvious choice since the overflow nipple is aimed that way, but...

    Cuda Capers: 6-28-08

I'm a knob.... and there's no denying it. I get to the house this morning and try to carry one thing too many into the yard. Out of the box slides my brand new stainless steel radiator overflow recovery tank. And it lands right on the beautiful smooth cap, which is now shot to hell. Nice big...

    Sad Reality....

There's NO WAY my car will be ready for Carlisle this year. No way. Even if I quit my job and pay people to help me. No way.... And this is the second thing I turned down due to not wanting to rush my car together. The first thing (which I'm NOT at liberty to talk about...) involved a Mopar...

    GoodGuy: GTXperience

Ben.... THANK YOU! I've been searching high & low for a set of inner fender splash shields for my car. I've mentioned it so often and to so many people I must have sounded like a mental patient. Ben was at a swap meet, spotted them, remembered me, and bought them. When I got the e-mail saying he...

Another day in paradise.... until reality hit me like a baseball bat in the teeth. #1) Is this normal for swivel fittings to rock back & forth like this in the video, or do I have a new headache? http://media.putfile.com/FuelFittingLoose #2) This is what I get for letting someone "help" me...

    Todays rant

Fixed the throttle and bled the brakes. I finally found and installed the clutch pedal linkage from the pedal to the Z bar.... We're making progress. Then I went to clean & paint the radiator so I can get this pile running. I had stored the radiator in a safe place, but neglected to tape the...

    Yesterdays Rant....

Yeah, I've been busy with the new job and trying to get something done on my heap before I die of old age (which should happen soon...) Wanna talk about being cranked-off? I bought this throttle cable from a well-know editor from a well-know Mopar publication who hustles stuff on e-Bay like a...

    Cuda Capers: 5-26-08

Not much happened considering I had to work a FULL DAY on Saturday, I had a 1/2 on Sunday due to a dinner obligation, and yesterday was a B-B-Q at my Buddy's house, plus helping Tom with his car. <sigh...> Maybe next weekend I'll get further along. I managed to wire the MSD unit, shorten the...

Yeah, this is going to be a busy week. Especially since I can see this thing RUNNING..... real soon! As promised, here's a few shots of what was done yesterday: Here's the pump finally mounted for GOOD. It's all wired up and the damn rubber feety-thingies are properly positioned. Everything...

Due to un-foreseen circumstances (I was half asleep...) I do NOT have photographs of todays adventures. I left my camera on the dinning room table when I left this morning. I promise to make up for it tomorrow. I did re-position that fuel pump (The rubber feet were twisted the wrong way and I...
