Greetings: Our ‘66 Convertible has both “A” pillars rotted out. Available, but far away, is a 66 hardtop parts car and a ‘66 convertible where the salvage yard states that the A pillars are in good shape. We have travelled there two times (620 mile round trip) to scavenge suspension and wee trim parts.

The convertible is in bad shape since the top has been down since who knows when. They will only sell whole car for $***.00. It’s do-able, but difficult logistics (how to get it off trailer here at home, running short of space) just to hack A pillars off. The hardtop is also 350 plus miles away but shows great A pillars and some extra pieces needed. I am allowed to hack it apart in their yard. Not too difficult.

My question is will hardtop pillars fit a convertible?? Any thoughts? Or does anyone in the group know of a suitable donor near Pittsburgh, Pa. ? I am going to Canfield Ohio next weekend, and Carlisle in July, perhaps I can find stuff there. I’m kinda on hold to do more on ours until I can get these Pilar’s straightened out. Thanks, Dave

The upper section by the cowl is the same. but, the lower part of the pillar is convertible only. As a repair section to be cut and welded in.....? It would probably depend on how much of the pillar you need and where your rust is.
