I am in the process of building a 72 duster and very curious on how quick I'm gonna be able to run with it I currently have a 66 440 steel crank flat tops 572 hydraulic comp cam balanced bottom end for heads I have a set of 516 closed chamber heads that have had some work done to them larger exhaust valve installed 1.88 bowls have been blended and minor port work weind team g Holley 850 and on the trans I have a new coan 727 race trans it's the good roller one transbrake 4000 stall coan converter 83/4 moser rear 5.13 gears will prob change them out to a 4.30 all msd ingnition digital 6 plus and billet distributor any ideas guys?

Should run 11s. My set up was 509 cam, 516 heads with 1.74 ex. valve, bowl port and gasket match, 9.25 comp. 4.56 gears and 3500 stall. Was in a challenger 3500 lbs. 9 in. slicks ran 11.8 Oh yea. Had a 750 dp on weiand xcelorator intake. The 516s aren't as bad as people think.

what it should run and what it will run are 2 different things.
get rid of the 5.13 's too deep.
take it to the track and get an mph run or 3, because I'm sure you will be traction limited, thus a slow time. mph with give you an idea of what the combo is capable of in et.
my 383 fastback has ran a consistent 11.45 @ 116

Plan on putting 4.30 gears in it the car has 31x13x15 Mickey thompsons on it now I don't think hooking will be a issue also hoping the trans frees up some power but could be wrong

My dad ran high 12s low 13s with his Duster back in the day. Had a stock 440 with 284/484 purple shaft, 770 Holley, 906 heads(shaved .010), cast intake unsure which one, fender well headers, full exhaust, 4 speed, street tires(spinning), and 4.10 gears. He never did get to throw slicks on due to hurting his back and the car got sold. Good luck with your setup! I am in the process of piecing my 440 together for my 4 speed Demon.

I have a 71 dart that is a full body street car with a 360 magnum in it with a small camshaft like a 498 with a 727 and 3500 stall with 391 rear and dot Hoosier and I ran 12.30-12.40 figured this car would be quite a bit faster is nothing but. A drag car striped our inner fenders gone all aluminum pannels in back idk I guess time will tel was told it weighed 2700 with the old set up
