I know this topic has been on before and I proably didn't pay any attention then but I need some worldly advice now.

Awhile back I had an early alternator converted over to 1 wire. Recently I decided to install the 1 wire on my 64 Dart. Once installed I went ahead and removed the stock hrness connection atthe alternator and wired the alternator in with a heavy gauage wire straight to the battery

Here's where I'm stumped and it's probably a blinding flash of the obvious.

Car won't start however it does crank over. I'm thinking at this point I have overlooked something.

Now that the stock harness is disconnected what about the field wire? Doesn't that send power through the balast resistor to the coil? I am thinking that somehow I'm not getting any fire to the plugs.

I'm missing something so I'm hoping someone here will enlighten me.

A one wire alternator jumpered directly to the battery should have nothing to do with the rest of the wiring

You have disconnected/ cut/ removed something.

You need a good wiring diagram, and see what you cut.

You should have been able to disconnect the stock regulator and just tape off the IGN terminal wire to the regulator. The diagrams below show that the regulator was originally fed split off from the "dark blue" (ignition run feed) going to the ballast. You should still have the one connected that goes to the bulkhead connector

The only thing I didn't do was disconnect the stock voltage regulator. That may have something to do with the problem. oh, by the way, nothing was cut.
