'100' Fastest Mopars 1962 thru 1971

-
67-Dart 273 from Idaho,

Please, don't try to tell me about Mopars.

Where the H*** did I post anything about 1962 or 1963 cars running 426 Hemi's.

Everyone knows they didn't come out until 1964.......

Did you even look at the 'first post'.

My point exactly. You did NOT list anything prior to 64, yet the heading says

'50' Fastest Mopars 1962 thru 1974",

I stand by what I say. What you IMPLIED was that the hemis were "king of the hill" before they even existed

"You post something."

You have NO reference, without it it's "just talk."

Kindly stick your ego somewhere and stop making personal attacks.

The only thing "I'm" "attacking" here is the accuracy of your so called information. Anybody can say anything. That doesn't make it true, and there's already enough of that on the wwwdot

67 Dart,

It's not my fault you 'can't comprehend'.

I listed the 1962 - 413 and 1963 - 426 cars.........

Is there something wrong with you..........

Look at the 'List' with your eyes open.

How about a question for you.

Tell me something about the Front Bumpers of a 1964 Race Hemi ?
and then youd know I alredy know I just want to see want you know and am lerning that by the amount of time it takes you to come back I have a god excuse I cant tipe but 5 word a min!!!!!!

Y'all are pretty sad. I really enjoy 69 440 Cuda's threads. To me, it's about the only thing actually worth reading on here anymore. Who cares where he gets his info. I have no idea who he is and have never talked to him before, but I have been around plenty of people that give interesting information like him, and I've never seen anyone give J. Arrington or D. Tripplett a hard time for giving out info. I know them both personally and I enjoy hearing about them looking over the wall at the 70 Daytona 500 or building Ray Hendrick's flying 11 red coupe.

I'm tired of the opposition 69 440 Cuda gets for offering some of his knowledge or memories. Maybe y'all should sit back and listen. You might learn something. Keep the info coming Cuda. The young guys like me who are just starting out in racing enjoy hearing it.

ya I know I usuly don't coment on his threads BUT I think its about time to see if hes that smart(my hat will be off to him)or just fast with a computer!!so far I think its the computer???

OOOOOOOOOO grasshopper Im wating!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll try aluminum or glass. As in fiberglass.

Good Effort 75 Sport.

Aluminum or Steel

Both were available on the 1964 Race Hemi.

According to Bud Faubel {Hemi Honker}, both were available, and
some left the factory with Aluminum, and some left with Steel.

X2.

I really enjoy his threads, but it's hard to read them when someone else tears him apart. Who the hell cares where he gets his info?? I don't see anyone else offering posts like these to the board.
It's even a little effed that other members can attack him all day from the get-go, but as soon as he says anything back, the mods jump all over him and threaten to ban him.

Keep posting 69 440 Cuda. There are some of us here who enjoy these threads.

Hey,
67 273 isn't name calling...
He's asking where these so called facts are coming from.
I am, too.
Without reference they are just like all the other BULLSHIT on the internet.

69 Cuda 440 ,You seem to be a very knowledgeable guy(with plenty of experience), but as far as I see it, even with your 1500 posts, YOU still have a lot of catching up to do if you ever expect to command the respect here that others have established by being knowledgeable AND helpful to others.

Maybe you are the sharpest tool in this shed, but you act like a Noob.

Bash away,
Tom

#43......1966 - 273 Dodge D-Dart {4.86 Gears}..............................................13.40's-Low of 12.92 as raced

Just as an FYI the actual target for a D Dart from the factory was a 13.20 ET, which would have equalled the D/Stock record at the time. However, once a 283/270 dual quad Corvette bombed the record to 12.90 around March of 1966 this would not have been good enough. See the quote below:

"The Politician: Thanks to Ralph Costa and Alan Hvizdos

Ralph Costa was a CO-owner and driver of the car. His job on the car was to take weight out of it -- eliminating unnecessary brackets and using aluminum brackets here and there, cutting off bolts and installing aluminum bolts here and there. He did a fine job at that. Tech inspection never knew that they were using aluminum motor mounts and that the fenders were held on with aluminum bolts.
Ralph also had 24 old time slips from when the car raced. None of them were dated but they all had D/S on them. They were from Milan Dragway, Detroit Dragway and National Trail Raceway. Ralph lent then to me and I made color copies of them. He also gave me a few of the originals from each of the tracks.

At Milan it ran between 12.94 @ 104.04 and 13.20. One slip had 13.09 @ 105 on it. Ted Spehar made notes on some of the slips like valve lash, timing, type of plugs used and their gap, what lane they ran in and if they won or lost. The 12.94 slip had "7000 through the eyes" on it. Looks like Ralph really wound out that little 273.

The Detroit Dragway slips range from 12.92 @ 102 to 13.41 @ 102. Notes on the slips indicate that they were shifting between 6700 and 7000 RPM's. They were also playing with timing and tire pressures. Of the 24 slips, the 12.92 was it's best ET.

At National Trail Raceway, they ran between 13.06 @ 104.89 and 13.28 @ 105.26. There is one slip with 13.11 @ 104.16 it has the "WIN" box checked of and a large "T" on it. According to Ralph, they won that day.

From what I can see on all the time slips, it looks as though the car ran in the high 12's and low 13's at around 104 MPH."

The 12.92 ET would put this car at number 18 on your list. I think this is a great posting, it got me interested enough to check this out.

Dyno Don,

I was going by what the 'average' D-Dart would perform after tweaking and leaving
the factory, without 'internal modifications'.

'The Politician' was 'not' running with 4.86 {Factory Gears} and that 273 Engine
was 're-done'.

I saw 'three' 1966 D-Darts run back in the day, and from the Factory {with normal
track adjustments}, they were running between 13.45's and 13.70's with 4.86 Gears
in D/Stock in 1966.

Bud Faubel 'The Hemi Honker'

1964 Dodge #330 - 426 Race Hemi

Set the S/SA National Record - May 1964 ...... 11.53 @ 123.79 MPH

This was an Aluminum-nose car with the 'rare' Aluminum front bumper.

I believe Bud took ownership in late-March 1964.

So does this car still exist or has it disappeared ?

"Puts his Big-Boy pants on"

Look, a lot of people on here appreciate what 69Cuda brings to light. He offers knowledge and information that was either lost to time or buried. If you have a question about his information's Authenticity. Just ask him to post where he got the information from or to PM you...Maybe its personal track experience, Maybe he has factory research papers squirreled away, Maybe he knows a Mopar Engineer, or maybe he's sitting ontop of a pile of vintage Car Crafts/etc mags like a King....Maybe he doesn't want his source known publicly. And before the individuals start with the; I did ask him......No, you showed disrespect and played tit for tat. Why'll I don't agree with the name calling, I would assume that no-one on this forum would sit idle and allow someone else to throw mud on their research or opinion of something. This isn't Wheel-of-Fortune folks....We're not asking 20 Q's to belittle one another here..We're not Mo*****.com... We're on this Forum because we share a common enjoyment for these American Built pieces of art. To share stories, experiences, and knowledge.

So please be civil, I'm not saying don't ask questions. Just be polite and respect each other.

Dodge's normally aspired high performance 273 was rated at 235hp. The extra 40hp the D/Dart produced was basic hotrodding. Off the speedshop shelf bolt on's included Racer Brown valve springs, a Camcraft 284-degree .500" lift cam, Doug's Headers, and a Holley 4160 bolted to the stock intake. All were equipped with the A-833 4 Speed and a Hurst shifter, Weber clutch components, and an 8 3/4 Suregrip with 4.86 gears. Unavailable for this car were air conditioning and a warranty. There were no external badging or markings to note the D/Dart package over a regular Dart GT.

The picture in the 1966 Car Craft article was of a white Dart GT with Cragar S/S mag wheels. They tested the car at 14.33 @ 92.21 mph.

Well Hey 69,
Glad I was able to help you feel good about yourself.
I seem to remember Goo as a good ole boy, a real nice guy.
I can think of plenty of worse things to be.
I don't come here to impress anyone, or to hear myself.
(Oh, and you know what they say about arguing/fighting on the internet)

Enjoy!
Tom

Oh,wait, I think maybe this is what you're looking for here:prayer:...

Not good? Maybe this one=D>
