11's with 3.23's

no i am not kidding. my car was a street car. no cage, 93 oct pump gas, 15#s of boost, and drag radials... ask anyone that has seen my car. i never took it to the track because it dont have a cage. i have no idea what it would run...

In that case you have an easy 9 second car, and 8's with a decent driver (and good suspension) and a prepped track.

Also, what did the car 60' before the gear swap? The reason I'm asking is because a 3200 stall seems to be a little low for your engine combo, IMO.

lmao!!! i told him to drive the car for a while till he get the hang of it... i drove it for 2 seasons with the big engine and i didnt have the nerve to stay in it! the 2nd to 3rd shift was brutal even with the 3:23! i was almost going to go down to a 2:94! she got to 7k very fast!

Yup going up the freeway on ramp 140mph sideways merging into traffic!! haaaa:D

A good turbo motor up on the pipe will scare the chit out of most anybody!

Yeah I'd be looking at a different converter if I were in your shoes. Your old combo had good mph ( good enough to run a high 11 IMO ), but your 60 ft is lacking. To give an example, my car runs 7.50's at 89, but with a 60 ft time ~1.60. If you were to contact several converter companies for a recommendation, I wouldnt be surprised if they came back with something in the 4k range. That's about what I'm thinking.

Now with your new gears I don't think a simple converter swap will get you to the 11's, but I bet you'd be close to what you were running before, just at a slower mph, probably ~86-87.

I like turbo action. Paul helped me out with the full manual valve body. I will probably go that rought on the converter.

New plan of attack. Get my other 742 suregrip put together (3.91's in the car right now. 3.23's need a yoke from DR DIFF for the 1350 u joint and assemble rebuild kit)

Use the 3.23's while cruising swap 3.91's when planning trip to the track.

I need to build one of these!

The real solution is to get a transmission with an OD. If you don't want to cut up the floors you will need to look at non-Mopar transmissions like a 200R4 or AOD. When you do the math:

Sell extra 742 with 3.23s
Sell existing trans and converter

Buy new OD trans and converter
New yoke/shorten driveshaft

Run the 3.91/4.10 full time and shift into overdrive on the highway. No mess changing rear gears, no odd ball combinations trying to compensate for the 3.23 gear.
