I just dropped the tank on the Grogery Getter and of course its shot about a half a ton of metal flakes in the tank a hole in the top and the sending unit is nasty to say the least. Anyway I look for a 62 tank and cannot find any can find them for a 63 so the question is: is the fuek tank for a 63 the same as a 62?

I was told the 63 is different. I got a 62 tank from CA for mine. Good luck! Let us know if you get a 63 tank to try and fit it.

The '62 and '63 tanks are way different. In fact, the '62 tank is a one-year-only item, not the same as the '60-'61 tanks. TTBOMK, nobody is reproducing any of the '60-'62 A-body tanks. :-( If you want new/perfect, you may be putting in a call to one of the specialist race car fuel cell makers.
I have heard a 63 will work, just cannot recall the email with the person that swapped it in.
check the dimension difference on a 63 vs your 62 tank, I think it will work, they both used the same type of "o" ring fuel filler seal.
The frame rails/spare tire area is the design usde on all 63-66 a bodies-- so I think a tank from 63-66 should fit-- just connecting to the filler neck might be the hold up.
Bonus the replacement might hold more fuel.

Thanks again Dan you are the A body man; I'm just looking for replacement it does not have to be new I just something that will fit and work. the only thing I see differnt between my 62 and the 63 is the sending unit on mine is on the right side of the tank and if I'm correct the 63 looks like it is at the front of the tank. Plus my tank is much smaller then my 67 tank I have laying around I might just for run try and install the 67 tank to see what it looks like to see if I can make it work. I'll be sure to post pictures of the install and keep everyone in the loop I will try it tonight when I get home.

I just put a 63 tank in my 62. It fits but it hangs out the back of the strap so far I worry about it slipping out if I hit a bump with the tank full so I'm going to put a second strap on it. 62 tank is 13 gal. 63 is 18 gal.
