1963 Dodge Dart 270 Convertible for the Wife

-
Either the mighty slant 6 ripped the transmission mounting loose and chipped the mounting flange.... or a ding dong forgot to tighten the mounting bolts and one fell out and the transmission flailed around chipping the housing... no one will ever know...... New speedo gear installed to to match the drivetrain... time for a test drive. Note that these pushbutton speedo gears are the same as standard transmissions so Brewers carries a full selection.

The fine detail honey do list is dwindling. The RamMan booster did come with the correct length rod, for some reason I thought I had the shortest one in it. Not. Perfect peddle height for the disk brakes. Passenger side mirror, you miss that after decades of standard equipment. Toe in set and wheel centered, had not done that since the disk install last weekend. Finally got the correct speedometer gear, dead on at 75mph. Left a little rubber with a /6 before a little cruise with the owner.

Figured the wiper problem Not phased correctly for the park. the cam nob goes on the wider side of the ears. The OER turn signal sucks, said it was going to cancel or it would break. It broke. Ordered a different style. This one works great.... The center cap was driving me crazy. Stripped it in carb cleaner and sanded and polished the face. 500, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 then polish. Much better.

Found another fuel pump on eBay to rebuild cheap.

Painted ln layers like the original. I used clay in the Fraztog to mask it then picked it out with a needle. Better but the plastic has a lot of cracks.

Oh and @billccm you got me so worked up about that header screw I was messing around today and dented and scratched the trim..... The special screws are on order but I have to take that piece back to capital to have them fix it.....

Now your talking. That's the Jim I know. Perfection or nothing! Keep up the fabulous work!

So the 63 Dart with disks pushed the wheel out far enough I had to drop from 205/60R15s to 195/60R15s. With +2.8 degrees of camber she barely makes it..... Received my correct #8 with #6 heads for the windshield moulding. Much nicer than those rusty ones.

Kaelyn and I had to drag our cars out to get ready for the first big show in over a year next Saturday.... We got the interior, underside and under hood done, we will do the exterior over the week. Apparently I have not driven mine in a long time.... thats embarrassing.

Somebody help me..... the oldest is totally fascinated by a 1966 Valiant and wants it..... another project......

Sigh. Oldest daughter is smitten with a 66 Valiant Signet. Looking at it Friday. Factory 273 bucket seats and console.

Round 4 cummin' up! Don't need TV with Jim on the net. (As a matter of fact, I haven't had TV since 1999.). Jim, it's a small handful of guys like you that keep my hopes up of ever getting into another A-body project again (owned 30+, but not recently). Thank you for sharing your incredible adventures.

I saw your teaser thread about a new resto before I read it here and for whatever reason, I was thinking Valiant. Plymouths for the kids and Dodge's for the parents.

I'll tighten up the front and get the weatherstrip and beauty edging on it tomorrow... Let it soak in the sun today and stretch out.... Back side is done and came out ok for not knowing what I was doing....
