Power Pack was an option for the chebbie 283 beginning in 1957. So, what exactly do you have?

I have 1965 Valiant 273 Commando engine, these came with a dual point distributor, 4 bbl carb, solid lifter camshaft with adjustable rockers....I bought the complete car, it was also a 4-speed car, and did a rotiserie restoration on the car and replaced the 273 with a 360 in egine....the 273 is all together at present........the previous owner had the heads off, put them back on and was going to drive the car like that..I've never had it running.

It's a Commando if it came with all that originally, not a power pack. It will help with your sale if you get the terminology right. A simple online search and you can find everything about it.

Sorry Ed. No harm , no foul. We here in the Mopar crowd like to do things right. A HP 273 under the hood of a Dodge is a Charger 273 and the same HP engine in a Plymouth is a Commando 273. The hair stands up on the back of our necks if someone try's to sell their car with a Posi 3:23 rear end. Here in Mopar Country it's called a Sure Grip. So when you say you have a Power pack engine we immediately think you have a Chevy 283 in your Valiant which, for most of us, is against the rules. toolmanmike

Thanks Mike! I forgot the Dodge called it something different. My mistake.

No Mistake. Commando is a common term to describe those engines. Everybody remembers that name. I wonder if there were more Valiants made with that engine. tmm
