The longer the '65 Formula S sits idly by in the garage without running, the wetter the floor becomes directly under the rear seal at the end of the tailshaft of the original A/T. Drainback from the torque convertor is probably a factor. Regardless, can the seal be replaced without removal of the transmission? Photo shows dry seal before ATF was added. (Driveshaft still bolts to transmission factory style but now his slip-joint conversion from the previous ball & trunion set-up). Thank you.

Confirm 100% WHERE it's coming from first. Sometimes, it's not the seal at all, but the flange. The end of the slip yoke can become compromised and fluid will run out of the flange. SO be SURE of what it is.

....and yes, it can be repaired with the transmission in the car.

Remove the driveshaft, at the flange. Remove the flange. Pop the seal out (might have to use a couple of sheet metal screws in the seal). Install the new seal with a driver, that has a hole in the center to clear the output shaft. Reinstall flange ant driveshaft. Word to the wise: the 65 seal is different then the 64 seal.
