Hello Mopar Fans,

I was wondering if anyone has swapped a later model bench seat ('67-'76) into an early Dart ('64-'66). I have a four-door. Do they fit? I'm keen on having headrests/neck support, but I'm also wondering what it would look like to have one in the car. I have the opportunity to get one from a Valiant with the high back seat section for the driver and passenger, but I cannot picture it in my head. Has anyone done such a seat swap, and, if so, do you have pics of it? Thanks in advance.

Matt

I think the floor pan is different and the seat won't bolt in correctly! I haven't actually done this but I think the early A is narrower and the floor is different at the outer edge where it bolts in!

I tried thus several years ago. The floor pans are similar. But, the seat back is too wide and the seat bottom is too narrow, especially with the rear seat.

Most 70's seats would be pretty worn and replacement foam and vinyl runs ~$700 for any 60-70's Mopar seats. I would consider much later. If you don't mind bucket seats, I put seats from a Sebring in my 65 Dart. They have an integrated shoulder belt, which is about the only way to get that in a 1965 car. Some years have issues with the electrical controls. You might get a pair for $150 like I did.

Thank you everyone for the feedback and guidance; I appreciate it. I'm always glad to avoid purchasing things that I don't need, especially if they will not work for my application. BillGrissom, your seat swap sounds familiar. Did you happen to show that conversion on another website or link? I know I read that many moons ago and saw the conversion, but when I tried to find it recently, I could not find anything. If so and you can guide me to where I can read about that, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

mdmmfm, Not me. I don't recall posting seat photos. Many use Sebring seats for the integral shoulder belt. Some convertible seats make a belt easier. I have Cobra seats for my 64 Valiant.

Clroads, Thanks for posting that very useful link. I might have seen it before, and filed away for when I finish w/ my seats (after interior). I did recall that some Sebring years are easier, and not sure what year I have. So far, I just made brackets to mount to the floor and installed for fit and to move the car.

Gentlemen, thank you for the responses. Bill, your note about the Sebring seats was appreciated and what jogged my memory about the other article I had forgotten about. Clroads, thank you reading my mind, jumping in, and sending the links about the seats; the Slantsix website was where I originally saw the article. Those are very informative and helpful articles. Now, for my final question about this conversion (or so I say final question; I'm sure there will be others): has anyone does this conversion in a '63-'66 four-door Dart/Valiant and have pictures they can post? Just trying to wrap my head around what the conversion would look like in a four-door. Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas/Happy New Year!
