I just acquired a 1968 D100 pickup that I plan on flipping for a few bucks. After taking a closer look at it I noticed that it has a 489 sure grip third member and factory cruise control. I'm pulling the third member out of it this weekend hoping for 3.55 or 3.91 gears. I also plan on removing the cruise control setup for my 70 Duster as well. Besides the switch, harness, and actuator is there anything else I need to take off of it or look for? I'll need the brake switch too although it is probably different for a Duster anyway? The truck is a 318 three on the tree.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Check the speedo cable to make sure it clips on the same. I used a 1975 Cordoba for the parts on my Barracuda.

Cruise on a truck? Have pictures? My truck is pretty loaded up, didn't know you could get cruise on a truck.

The cruise control switch is loose on the column but you can see it there. I'm going to sell it with the truck and find a later setup out of a Cordoba or something.

Won't work, the 69 and older units use 3 wires and the 70 and newer use 4 on the switch. If you get the switch from the Doba get it all. I think I have a 68-69 stalk I will sell. I can look if you would like. Looking at your pics, that looks like a newer switch. If it is the cruise was most likely added.

Thanks for the great information! I was also told that 80's Dodge pickups would be a good cruise donor as well.

There's a small clip and roll pin on the carb linkage that often gets forgotten.

It's a ***** to get out, too. it's for the secondary cable from the vacuum can.

BTW cruise speedo cable sets are easy to find and cheap- rockauto.

Someone def put a 489 chunk and cruise on a 68 3/tree truck.

Good score, though.
