Good evening, I am having a issue with my dart that I can't seem to trace down and was hoping someone may have some advice to offer. When I turn my key into the run position, my voltage gauge shows there is some sort of load and is doing what is attached in the video. I'm not sure what to make of this as I've tried to trace it down to no avail. Has anyone had this happen to them or can someone offer some advice on what to look for? Thank you,
Matt

If the points are closed, the ign coil will be drawing current which will show up as a 'Discharge' on the gauge.

My bad I should have clarified last night more, as I kept everything pretty general with my post. The motor is a 340 with electronic ignition so no points on it. And it seems to "click" on and off as shown in the video. You can actually hear the gauge "click" if that makes any sense

If needed I can provide more information, I went through all of the fuses and tried to trace down where it would be coming from. When I turn the key on the battery voltage drops from 12.6v to 12.16v and then "clicks" back up to 12.25v and repeats back down to 12.16v. I've never expireanced anything like this before...

Possibly an instrument voltage regulator, alternator regulator, or your ignition ECU? Try swapping in known good parts if you have any, or isolate through disconnection.

Just start it up, does it work fine then?
Does it drain the battery if you let it sit a day.

In your video there is a click and the Alt meter (which registers current coming from or going into the battery) moves to about 5 amp draw from the battery.

Then there is a louder ting sound (not coming from the alt gauge) and the gauge goes to 10 amps draw

It sounds like a relay. Or maybe a circuit breaker.

There is a circuit breaker in the wiper switch, and in the headlight switch.

What has been done to the wiring?

Is the turn signal switch switched in either direction?

Is the wiper switch on?

Is the e flasher switch on?

Have you gone around the car looking for lights that are turning on when this happens?

Man I hate hearing my own voice!

Listening to the sound a few times my money is on the turn signal flasher unit up under the dash in the passenger side of the ash tray.

It's a cheap shotgun part.

Now why would the turn signal flasher do this that's a question!

Try the same test you did but with the key in the ACC position.

Also try turning the turn signal switch at the same time this is happening
