I have found 2 different answers on what the engine color is on the 1969 /6 in the Valiant. one said turquois blue and one said red. which one was it. I have no idea. thanks,Bill

pretty sure it was red like my 68...

would this be the correct color in a rattle can. Mopar Paint P4349218 from Summit. I read where it went to Blue in 1970.Thanks

I read that too. I read turquois blue in one place and red in another. that's why I am confused.

this says red... http://www.dippy.org/forum2/index.php?topic=106.0

This bit is copied from one of Dan's posts a while back:

Slant-6 colo(u)rs from the factory:

Metallic dark turquoise: Some 1960-'61 Plymouth-Dodge full size cars, North American market

Silver: 1961 (RV1 sold as "1962") Valiant, Australian market, some '60-'61 Plymouth-Dodge full size cars, some '61 Valiant/Lancer.

Red: 1962-68 all passenger cars, all markets, except as specified below, plus most 1960-61 Valiant/Lancer, North American market

Turquoise-blue: 1962 or 1963 through 1966 Canada-market 170 engines, plus all slant-6s in 1969 passenger cars & trucks throughout the North American market

Blue: 1970-1982 all passenger cars & trucks, North American market

Turquoise-green: 1967-1969, w/2bbl carb, Australian market

Orange: 1967-19??, w/2bbl carb, South African market

Yellow: 1962-early 1969 truck/bus, North American market (some '61-'62 got red)

Black: 1983-up, all applications, North American and probably other markets.

those are the 2 sources I found and right back where I started, I guess it depends on what color you like best. Right now the valve cover is blue but I don't think it is the turquois blue. It looks like the Chrysler blue that I painted the 73 Darts engine.

I will get this unloaded this afternoon and garaged and look at the block and tell more about it. It was just too cold up there in Michigan to worry about engine color.

Back in the day it was a general rule of thumb that a Chrysler industrial red engine had a forged steel crank. A blue engine had a cast crank. Since there was more than one C.I.D. of slant 6 that were placed in cars, trucks, fork lifts, most anything, the paint color could be either or.

well the verdict is in on the color on this 69. and turquois blue wins. here is a pic of the block. Thanks for all the input.
