Did Ma MOPAR offer a luggage rack in 1969? If yes anyone have one or know where to get a re-pop? One of my projects has the holes drilled in the trunk lid (very cleanly done) and I think the car would look great with this addition. I have seen a few pics of convertibles with a luggage rack but have never seen one in person. Guessing I could have one made??? But, if this item exists I figured I would find it here.....even if a few good pictures of an original were available I could have one reproduced from that.....

I have one. measure your holes, and get back to me. I believe Mopar made only one, for A or b body. Mine came from a 68' charger. I still have that trunk lid as well.
I also have one from a 70' challenger.

I believe Norm Verhage's yellow '69 340 vert has one on it

They also came on E-body.Years ago my friend had a 383 Chally ragtop with the luggage rack. He,s kicking himself today for selling the car for $3500.:wack:

The luggage rack I have is from the e-body. I agree the chrome rack adds to the verts appearance but only when the top is down.
I couldn't bring myself to drill the holes for it.

I had a 71 Barracuda that had one, 383 automatic car, have you ever tried putting anything in the E body trunk :banghead:

Racks only fit the coupe and convertiables, wll not fit fastback cars, just to let you know.

Yes, just like the sheet says, '68-'69 Barracuda 2DR H.T. and C.C. (hard top, coupe convertible)

Thanks, I saw that when I tried to line it up. The fastback trunk lid is cute but,,,,,,,,,
Anyway I will sell mine. it is missing two legs, though the piece that attaches to the lid.

Here is one with one on it. Strangely, it looks like an 8 post rack.

The one on this 69 Charger looks to be a 6 post:

PG Classic advertises one, but it looks like a 6 post:

I know you perhaps shudder to think, but is it possible that someone put a Corvette rack on the trunk? Check the dimensions and number of your holes, and bounce them against this:

Tony's Parts is advertising an original Charger rack, but said you will need to restore it, and get new pedestals.

Hope that helps,

Shane

ok, so, PM'd oldmopardude....my trunk already has the holes drilled and plugged. I just have to get home some day and measure them. I think my beefed up 340 car might end up dropping stuff on the highway from the luggage rack all over San Diego but heck, it looks darn good with the top down and better than having 4 black plugs in a white paint job.......

So, Old Mopar Dude, I will send you my dimensions tonight!! Scary thought

I have no problem with a rack. Have thought about one on my car before.
Put that bad boy on with an old leather suitcase, and away you go !!! :)

Measured the rack tonight........(gratuitous comments required after that set up)..

Dimentions are 16 3/8 top to bottom and 28.5 left to right.

These could be from any old after market unit but hoping OMD has the right stuff. If these don't match factory dimensions I guess I can weld them shut and move on but hoping to add the hardware.

Shane, have you ever ordered from PG classics before? I have twice and both times they send me the wrong part. Then I had to send it back to a Canadian address versus their NY location where they advertise from. They would not pick up the postage to return and they ended up wanting to charge me shipping on the replacement item........Buyer beware.... I am just saying.

Andy, I have not ordered from PG directly, but I had heard that it was hit or miss with them, and sometimes much more miss than hit.

If your dimensions work, perhaps check with Bill Rolik

or give Rick at Layson's a call and see if they have it. It know it is a little strange that we are fitting a puzzle piece to a pre-existing puzzle...

Looking at those Corvette racks, it seems that those would answer the mail. I could not see much difference in the "Mopar luggage rack" and Corvette ones, right down to the pedestals that hold it up. They look suspiciously alike to me.

The charger rack has six attaching points. the front mounting points left to right are 39.5 Inches. The rears are 44 inches. from front to back the holes are 20 Inches. Too big for my Cuda, those measurements are taken from the original charger lid.

The dimensions on the trunk lid are 16 3/8 inches top to bottom and 28.5 inches left to right. Blewbyu has one but his hardware dimensions were way off.

It would be nice to have what the Barracuda original equipment pedestal dimensions might have been......appreciate everyone's input....seems this piece still needs research.
