I found a 70 fm3 duster. Numbers matching motor. The whole car is there but completely disassembled including the motor. All the sheetmetal is solid. Just wondering what u guys think its worth. I have checked it is a fm3 340 car. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

pink is one of he rarest colors out there. and a 340 to boot.. any pics of the body and parts?

Haggerty Insurance quoted me 7K driver, 12k good, 17K excellent condition for a 71 340 Duster. You've got a lot of work to put it all together and probably more $$ when you find worn out parts. I can't tell you what I'd pay without seeing pictures. Can you post some?

I don't have any pics. The seller wants 7500. I will do a full restoration on it.I can tell you that I don't have to do any sheetmetal work. Its that solid. But it is completely tore apart including the motor and interior.

I forgot to mention that everything pretty much needs redone seats dash pad and door panels. It has a trans not matching and the correct area end and Kelsey Hayes brakes

$7500 sounds high for it being so far apart to me... no metal work adds value.. really hard to say. you sure he has every part for it?

do you WANT a FM3 duster?

if you are going to paint it EL5 (my favorite colour) then who cares what ma mopar painted ?
and...are you willing to pay top dollar for something just because it was rare ?

unless you are planning on making this thing showroom correct I would be more worried about what needs to get done/fixed/replaced then about what options it had

good straight sheetmetal goes a long way but a motor that is apart may need more attention (read, money) then one that has not been opened for 43 years and burns a little oil

thanks for all the input the seller does have a 72 340 pettyblue numbers matching and the motor is together.I t comes with a ton of nos parts it needs qtrs. He wants 5500. I'm a body man so I'm thinking it might be a better car to get.

7500 seems high, but it is a fm3 340 car. That is the rarest of the high impact colors, I would definitely keep it that way, but get that price down first!

I think both cars are great! either one is a great buy-low ball him on the pink one. What does it cost -primer paint to do a good paint job today?

Both cars are autos. I just want to say thanks again to everyone for their input. It is greatly appreciated.

makes a HUGE difference in what ya will have in it IF you can paint it or have to pay someone else. and all required work right down the line.
Hageerty?? I have my cars with them. their minimum value for one of my cars was like, 4 times what I could sell it for!!! LOL
remember "rare" does not necessarily value"
my guess is that the pink car is way more rare then the petttyblue. BUT ma mopar did not keep up with these records.. some people will try to tell ya its a say, " 1 of 3" thing!!! BS
I think that we hobbiest would like to pay more more than a FAIR price when we fork out our hard earned $$$$ for a project. if anyone thinks they will buy ANY project, restore it to whatever condition, and sell it at a PROFIT, they better have decades of experience, knowledge, and skills, but THE right car at the right price, etc......
dusters probably ain;t gonna do it, pink or not.. just me.......

I've done bodywork for over 41 years. I don't WANT to weld on this old stuff anymore. lol.

An FM3 340 Duster is both rare and desirable, although the color isn't for everyone. A car that has been taken apart doesn't scare me as much as it would most people, since I have worked on them since the '70s I know how to put one back together. They are simple cars, the main thing is to be sure all the parts are really there. Plus, to restore one, you have to take it apart anyway.

That said, Petty Blue is my favorite color on these cars so I would really be torn on which one to buy. My decision would probably be based on the level you intend to take it to. If you restore to a very high level, the FM3 car would definately be the most valuable when done, IMO. At the highest level, a '70 will 'usually' bring more than a '72 also.

However, budget comes into play in making a decision too. If having the NOS parts for the '72 enables to you get the car done on your budget, then it's obviously the one to get. If money is no object, go for the FM3 car (again IMO).

Good luck on your decision.
Either one sounds like a great car to restore,

Thanks Dallas. I'm probly gonna go blue 72. That's the car my dad had and this build will be for him. I don't plan on ever getting rid of it. As I will pass it on to my son.I will keep you guys posted when I have it in my possession

I'll be looking for the progress pics. I've had literally hundreds of old cars (many back when they weren't so old lol) and one of the very few I regret selling was a Petty Blue '72 340 Demon.

Get both, his and her Dusters! Seriously though, either one would of been a good choice, the pink one for the rarity, and Petty Blue is just downright pretty.

That's what my wife said. She wants the pink one. Problem is the budget.

see what this one sells for and consider if you can make it work for about that amount
