I may as well be a legend in my own mind, since I ain't in anybody else's.everybody is a legend in their own mind, and around here it seems a lot are trying to burnish that reputation.
**** man, I’m the best. Just ask me.everybody is a legend in their own mind, and around here it seems a lot are trying to burnish that reputation.
ps It was a number matching 71 Charger R/T Hemi 4 speed dana 60 car. All original non rusted body panels, original paint (red) car 44k original miles. Almost all original parts like block, Hemi trans, dana 60, wiper motor alt. ps pump, rotors calipers etc.. etc.. The only changes were the stroker crank etc. the roller cam, indy heads, intake and Dominator. O and headers. Made 660 hp at 5500. and I forgot about the 5 star wheels. Beautiful car. If you want to see pics look on B bodies as he was selling it for a lot more. He had no takers. I sold it for 45.
So, if its that good, and he wants to sell it, the benchmark has been set by this car.If I were to pay that much money for that Demon...it would have to be completely accurate in every way, according to the broadcast sheet and fender tag. The blingy carb, white interior, etc...shouldn't be there in my opinion. It should have been restored to as built factory condition... just saying... again my opinion.
I know a guy who has a fully restored FC7 '71 Demon... original numbers # 340 4 speed car... black bucket seat interior...he did the work himself... I even donated a few parts myself, towards his restoration project...and his is just as nice, as the Demon in this thread.
He restored it according to the fender tag and didn't deviate from it, kept it as the factory built it originally. That's what "restored" is supposed to be...."restoring" it back to the way it was originally built.
BTW...Just checked every 71 Charger sold on B-Bodies back to April 2019 and couldn't find this car.
This is the only car I saw that was close but its not a Hemi.
FOR SALE - 1971 Charger R/T #s match 4 speed
If this car was restored to the same condition as the Demon we are discussing, I'm willing to bet it would get great numbers at a Mecum auction as well.
In its current state, I see interior, engine, paint tires and wheels, not to mention a complete rotisserie restoration to match the Demon in detail and quality of build.
Its hilarious when shown an example of high $$ mopar car, there's all sorts of squawking FROM MOPAR OWNERS how its overpriced, Grampa welded better. All sorts of excuses to diminish the quality of restoration/build.
Lol you would think a Chevy rolled over the block.
Would LOVE to see the other examples roll across and see what they would bring. Hell do a hypothetical ad here on fabo, not like we havent seen a bunch of WIW threads.
Put your $$ or rot box where your mouth is......
Yep this is my old car. I didn't sell it on b-bodies I said he was trying to sell it on b bodies. Please read. So you could buy 3 of these instead a basically a rebodied 340. Some people just don't get it. And the marks in the trunk are from a rubber mat and is not rust. So what do you think would you rather have 2 really nice b bodies and a nice a bodyy or a purple roof.BTW...
This car shows evidence of a repaint.
See below.

Yeah there have been lots of resto mods pulling in big money at auctions. Some buyers want the upgraded machines they want to drive them. So, if its that good, and he wants to sell it, the benchmark has been set by this car.
The value, as Rusty said, is set by the market place and this one knocked it out of the park because of its attention to detail and the finished result.
Here's a kicker for you.
If that Demon had rack and pinion steering, a 6.1 Hemi ,tubular suspension with an RMS or HDK suspension system, 4-link, coil overs, upgraded audio, it would have gotten even more money than what it sold for.
Restored is gradually being replaced by RestoMod as that's what most new buyers are most comfortable owning.
But it's not a roof!
Neither was this.
Original doors, hood trunk lid, fenders , quarter panels with lower section repaired, floors replaced , and trunk floor.
And, because the new owner can see the complete car in bare metal, he knows exactly what he is getting.
No guesswork, no hidden sunrises.
That's what's worth the money to people at the auctions
no, no, see what you're missing is the point that facts don't further his narrative.
no, no, see what you're missing is the point that facts don't further his narrative.
Yea you can see it allright. Rotted out floors, patches, bondo. You know what you would see on my car if you striped it, Steel. You buy them books, send them to school and all they do is eat the teacher.Neither was this.

Very good point.Wonder how upside down the builder/ seller is after fees and expenses
