ok well im starting the thread for the Swinger!

the plan is a daily driver, gets good mileage (shooting for 30 but thats a very hard number to get!), handles like a go-kart!

so how did i get it?

well i was about 16 and i had seen this ugly 70's green dart sitting for about 8 years infront of a moble home park, flat tires and leaves under it. so i finally was at a point where i could afford to buy it (flipped three cars including a 72 240z). so my dad drove me to it and i started working the original owner, a little old lady. well it took about three weekends before she would even sell it and her number came down to 1K! well i agreed and then the fun began. here we were trying to get it running on the side of the road. ended up being a broken dizzy gear lol.

ok well have the V-5 16x8 with 4.5" BS wheel with 255/50-16 BFG comp 2 tire ordered so i can test them for fit.

Going to keep the slant 6? I think you could get 25mpg but 30 might be a stretch. Maybe efi would help get to 30 mpg?

Got any plans for the ugly 73 nose? Before I found my 72 nose for dirt cheap I was thinking of cutting up the pointed part and flattening it out then ditching the grill and doing something kind of like the fast and furious charger had, it was just like a thing mesh, and using a duster front bumper. Anything is an improvement over the 73-76 nose.

Cool build though, can't wait to see more.

Looking good, keep the photos coming.

of course!

Your dash looks great. Is that woodgrain a vinyl overlay?

yep all original

yea im keeping the 6! as far as 30 like i said its a goal. after the motor rebuild and the right tune i think it will be close.

as far as the nose it will stay. will be playing with the bumpers though! possibly side markers to.

One step at a time Looking good and moving in the right direction IMO
If anyone can get close to 30 mpg I believe you can Kid :happy1:

well my test wheel and tire showed up! Crager V-5 16x8 wheels with 4.5" BS and a 255/50-15 BFG Sport Comp 2 tire.

Starting with the rear!

to the leaf spring there was 3/16", not to great. but to the fender lip there was almost 3/8" to 1/2" of clearance and another 1/2" if i contour the stainless wheel well trim to the screw heads i think i can get another 3/8". so with a 1/4" spacer i think it would be perfect!

Now the fronts... tires and rims fit without collision to any suspension components so thats good! i lost a little bit of near lock turning radius but that was to be expected. the issue i have is with the same 16x8, 4.5 BS, the tire sidewall sticks out about 1/2" so i would need 5" BS wheels on the front to have it look right.

with how it was the tire hit the front of the fender opening, which again was to be expected, but with the 1/2" more BS i dont think that will be an issue. though with 1/2" more bs im not sure how much of my turning radius i will loose and how much clearance there will be to the upper BJ and tie rod.

they sure look great though!

Looks good,805! Those Cragars are a sweet deal, for the money.

been awhile since i posted on this thread and have got some stuff done finally!

first off got a clutch and 17" fan on the swinger, fits like a glove and cools better than the stock 4 blade! i still need a shroud as its up around 210-220 in out 105* weather.

then today i blasted the entire roof (before and after pics) as it was really rusty from the vinyl top. i was lucky and had no thru holes but just some deep pits.

Been awhile since i posted! i think my 63's will be leaving this weekend and if they do im doing the full front end, if it happens i'll post my list with numbers and prices. minus shipping i was able to knock 450 bucks off the kits with parts from here and there!

when i do this whats the up to date alignment specs? going with firmfeel upper control arms, full poly bushings (nylon LCA bushing) and 255/50-16's for tires.

So i found my color! i dont even know the name of the color yet as last time my paint store didn't have it! I think its called "Poison Green" but dont know for sure...

Nice Swinger 805M.K. , looks like a solid car and for 1K I would be jumping on that deal if I had the extra $. you can always eliminate the side markers to give the car a clean and smooth look.

what are you going to do with the bumpers? customization? would like to see cause Im thinking the same on a Scamp I have. I can't wait to see more pics. :thumblef:
