1974 Scamp #2

Got some headers in the mail today. Had to open up a few of the holes a little bit to get them to bolt on. Now for some kind of coating for them.

Great project. Your work is fantastic. Your moving along so quickly too. I have been at mine for more than 5 years now. Best of luck with it...

Your Scamp looks so damn purty, makes me wanna paint mine black too! What headers did you end up going with?

Thanks. Blacks a hard color to do. Mine's not perfect but good enough for me. The headers are from Summit. Patriot brand. Not in the budget for $600-800 headers. These will have to do.

Thanks for the compliments. Im trying to get this done in just over a year. I have another project that I been working on for 15 years now. Way to long. Need to get back on it this summer.

5 years worth here! Plumbing, wiring and interior left to go. But I did move and rebuild 2 houses along the way...
Anyway, your Scamp is awesome!

Well today is one year since I got the Scamp home. I've made a lot of progress and hope to keep things rolling. Want to take my wife and kids for some nice drives this spring/summer.

Here's my before and after pictures.

Working on the gauge cluster. Got another one that had the correct "fasten seat belt" light for the car. Has a small piece missing from the coroner. Working on the repair. Took a coroner off another one the the PO had cut up to put in aftermarket gauges in. I'm not going that route.

Now a little super glue and some baking soda. Then sand and paint.

Looks good sitting there. Nice air cleaner and no one will know the difference.

Read the instructions and got a few questions. They call the Orange wire yellow and yellow one orange. Must be a misprint. Also need to decide how I want to do fuel system. Dont like the fuel command center setup.

Got the new radiator mounted today. Had to drill new holes. For some reason my car came with a smaller radiator like a slant 6 car. But its a true v8 car. Maybe because its a non a/c car. Also not sure if I like the chrome water neck. Thinking about painting it blue.

That EFI is looking good to me. My Holley dumped fuel all over my painted intake this past weekend. Guys say it dried out while sitting on the shelf waiting for me to get the body ready. Ordered a rebuild kit. You won't need to suffer thru that dude...

Got my fuel line and fittings for my Fitech efi setup. Going to try and put a pump in the tank.

Got the front rims cleaned and painted this pass weekend. Had to order front tires today they didn't have the size I wanted in stock. Also ordered some 15x8 ralleys for the back. Just not sure on what size of tire I want to get yet.
Also picked up some small things at autozone today. Hoses, belt, oil pressure switch and front shocks. Got them installed today.

This thing is coming along great! LOVE the blue interior, That dash turned out beautiful. Curious to see how you like the FiTech once you get it running I've been considering the same setup.

Got my 15x8 ralley rims today. Mounted one 28x12.5x15 MT et street tire I had from my mustang days. Just a little to big for now. Would need to move leaf springs in to make them work. Maybe next winter's project. See what I can find a little smaller for now.

Picture from rear is 28x12.5 vs 245/14
