One more time! The first event is less that a month away so it's time to start this thread so I don't forget the 2024 pre-season bonus event.
"The Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum" is back at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and will kick off the 2024 NASCAR season on Sunday, February 4, 2024. This race will run under stadium lights.

I haven't yet found a list of eligible drivers for the 2024 Clash but will post one as soon as possible. I will also post Clash qualifying and additional information.

Like last year, game scoring for the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum will work like this:
Just participate in the Busch Light Clash and pick up -2 bonus points
Pick three drivers for the main event and list them in the order you think they will finish in the race (first driver named will either win the main event or finish closest to the winner, second driver named will finish behind the first named driver but ahead of the last named driver, last named driver will finish the main event behind your other named drivers). Pick the correct finishing order for your three choices and pick up -5 bonus points

As far as the 2023 NASCAR "Pick 'Em" game.......

We're going with the same rules as the past few years and they again will stay the same all year including bonus points.

1- Pick 2 Drivers each race! (place divided by 2)
ex. 3rd and 9th place =12/2=6----your score for race

2- Bonus pick winning driver. (-5)
ex. your score (6) -5 = 1 score with bonus

3- Bonus pick 2nd place driver. (-3)
ex. your score (6) -3 = 3 score with bonus

4- Picks must be in before the drop of the green flag for each race.
ex. the sticks with green material waving in air, if no pick avg is as if you picked the last place finisher

5- No picks for 3 straight races and you will be sent to pits for the remainder of the season.
ex. out of Competition - lost your team sponsor

6- You may make your picks permanent for the entire season so you don't run the risk of getting the dreaded last-place-pick race result by forgetting to post your weekly picks. Just let me know in your initial pick post that you want your picks to be permanent for the year. Of course, you can always make a change to your permanent picks if one, or both, of your drivers gets sick, injured or loses his ride.

Let me know who is in so I can get your names on my Excel spreadsheet. 2024 is gonna be another great year!!!

Please make your picks by driver name or car number and driver name. Driver name will always take precedence over car number.
If you make your pick by car number only you're going to be locked in to that car number no matter who the driver is; and if you pick a car number not in that weeks race, you'll end up with a last place finish as your score for that car.
..............If you have any questions just ask............

The format for the 2024 Clash at the Coliseum was finally announced yesterday and revealed several changes:
* The 2024 Clash will be a two-day show with practice/qualifying and heat races run on Saturday, February 3 in an empty Los Angeles Coliseum. There will be no fan access on Saturday. Live television coverage on Fox Sports 1.

(01/20/24 addendum: Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Sr. VP of racing development and strategy recently announced via social media that due to race fans highly vocal disapproval of closed Saturday practice/qualifying, that the Coliseum grandstands will now be open for free spectator entry on Saturday. Sunday race tickets are not required for free Saturday viewing.
*
Practice/Qualifying - The field will be split into (3) practice groups, with each group receiving (3) sessions. Each competitor’s fastest lap time from their final practice session will determine the starting lineup for the heat races.
* Heat Races - Four heat races of 25 laps each with only green flag laps counted – no overtime in play. The top five from each heat race advance through to The Clash.
*
Last Chance Qualifier - Cars that do not transfer to The Clash will compete in the Last Chance Qualifier Race with their starting position determined by where they finished in their respective heat races. The LCQ race is 75 laps with only green flag laps counted – no overtime in play. The top two finishers in the LCQ will transfer to The Clash.
*
Feature (The Clash) - The main event will run on Sunday, February 4, and be televised at 8:00PM EST (5:00PM PST) on Fox Sports 1. The Clash main event will feature 23 drivers competing for 150 laps with only green lag laps counted – the race must end under green. A timed break will be observed at the halfway point of the race (Lap 75).
*
Feature Lineup: “The first 22 starting spots for The Clash is set through finishing positions in the heat races and the LCQ. The 23rd and final starting spot is reserved for the driver who finished the highest in the 2023 season driver points standings who did not already transfer into The Clash.”

So far there are only nine (9) players saying they're in for 2024.
Only two of them have posted picks for the Clash that is racing on Sunday, Feb. 4.

@Avispa, @Sublime one, @Dart_Doctor, are you going to join us for 2024.

Come on new players! Join in!

I need to have a minimum of ten (10) players to justify putting in the time and energy to do this game.

I am in, apologies we been farming! I will get my self sorted out here directly and turn in my picks.

The weather is not lookin' good for the Coliseum this weekend. They better have a really good drainage system in place or reserve a fleet of vacuum trucks to de-water the place.
