Hey FABO! I’m looking for a decent timing cover (#2128896) (???79 date???) without cast in timing marks, preferably without corrosion or damage would be ideal, if possible. I’m including a few pictures of the one I’m hoping to replace. Thanks!

1965 Barracuda 273 (last rebuilt/reman in 1985)

I have one. I’ll get some pictures later this morning
I knew I could count on you! Haha, that would be outstanding yea please share some pictures when and if you can, no rush! Thank you! What might be a fair price for something like that if you don’t mind me asking? (PM is fine if you wish to keep it private) thank you!

I believe I have the cover you posted, which is actually a replacement cover that Mopar made in the late 1970's for the '68 and earlier engines. It incorporated the '78-up design where the seal can be replaced without pulling the cover off. The original early covers had to be removed to install the seal. Unless you need the early design for originality, the later design works just fine.....as does the '70-up cast-in cover which is easier to find.

Hey that’s great! Thank you, I’ve got two other members who offered up some covers just waiting to hear back and confirm they’re what I would need…

Thank you for the explanation. I appreciate you taking the time to explain that. I’m still pretty new to all of this with my build and I don’t know, what I don’t know… that makes much more sense now looking at mine it does look like the seal would come out of the front…

Again I don’t know, but if I go with the same exact cover as mine (without a timing mark and with the external seal) what would I use for timing? I understand there is or was a bolt on bracket with timing marks (mine has nothing of the sort) I’m not really sure what I would need to do here for such a set up…

Until I hear back from the other members and if it’s correct, what might a fair price be for you on yours, if it’s available that is?

Same same, part number is smaller, can you see it?
I have other misc from it

Early '68 and older small block engines used a bolt-on timing indicator which was bolted to the passenger side water pump bolts. I have one of those too if the others don't.

I really have no need or sense to keep it “original” or time period correct… that I know of… being it was “rebuilt” in 85 sometime… more of replacing it as is… unless there’s a benefit to the later option????

Hey guys! Looks like I’ve tracked a cover and a tab down, no hard feelings I hope, I certainly appreciate everyone who took the time to get involved and help us look for what we needed and thank you for the crucial information and education in the process! All the best and happy wrenching!
