I know it's not Mopar related. Many of you may not watch NASCAR. And many of you may not have liked Dale Earnhardt Sr. or may not like Junior either.
But to me it was great watching Junior wheel his #3 Wrangler-sponsored blue and yellow Chevrolet back into Victory Lane at Daytona! It was a one-race deal brought together by Richard Childress and the Earnhardt family for one last run with the famed #3 at Daytona to honor Dale Sr. on being inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
It just looked right.

For a life long Earnhardt fan like me, this was the highlight of the racing season so far, no matter what series. Hopefully this is the run that get's Jr. back on track. It was good to see the #3 back out there, we'll see if it ever comes back again. Go Jr!!!

And how about those Penske Challengers? they were fast and looked awesome, hopefully the rumors of the Chally going to Cup are true.

Is it me or just it just scream scandal. Im a nascar fan but really he has bad luck all year and out of nowhere Jr wins. They put together a new chevy with old paint job and number 3. Seems more like marketing promotion to sell more shirts than anything else. Do you really think there chance they would not have him not win.
You can bash me all you want but nascar is not the same anymore.
No disrespect to Earnhardt Sr. and Jr.

You mean like Junior winning the first time back at Daytona after Senior got killed?

Or those debris flags late in the race that Tony Stewart got fined for questioning in a radio interview and comparing Nascar to WWE?

No respect to the OP with this observation. If you followed Nascar, seeing the #3 back in victory lane would be special.

Personally, I'd be more reminded of the glory days if it was #43 or #21.

I was happy for Jr the most. Conspiracy theory aside, he still had to finish the race. Childres has a good program so he had the car to do it, that for sure.

One/won and done.

Agree........... althought I haven't really followed or watched that often since Toyota was allowed to participate, but thats just me......... #43 .... I met him on a flight from Pittsburgh to Vegas.............

I mist allot of the race, and I was happy to see Jr. win with Dale's old car colors and #3 car.
RIP Dale E.,

The last pictue is Jr behind the new Dodge Challenger

I didn't watch the race but I turned it on and seening the car there was special. Since I have model of every 3 car paint scheme.

Im justing saying it would have been more special if it was really earned.
Our be that Jr be more motivated to win every week not just win its a special reason your racing for.

I was thrilled to see the #3 back in victory lane at Daytona.. perfect way to retire the 3... I am tired of all the haters and the 'it was fixed' crap... your never gonna convince me that you can get 42 other drivers to take the fall... hell Kyle Busch damn near wrecked Jr, twice in the first 20 laps... its just the way things go.. just like you'll never convince me that pro football was fixed so Jerome Bettis could win the Superbowl with the Steelers and retire in his hometown.. people just love to hate.. it was a great race, and an emotional end of the line for the famed #3... simple as that.. Congrats Jr! ... your daddy would be proud.

But the 3 was suppose to be retired and never be back on a nascar track after Sr death.
So are we gonna see the 3 show up again in 9 or 10 tens years like it did this weekend in Daytona. Since its been retired from 2001.
You know and everyone else knows this is not the end of the line for the famed #3.
Childress grandson wants to run the #3 also. He a business man. Im sure we will see the retired famed #3 again in the future.
Be a man Childress and if you say it is retired don't use it anymore and stop bringing it back.

This hole things smells of company corruption, and nascar trickery,a one time only paint sceem and honor the earhearts, smells worse than a dead scunk on the highway, mrmopartech

one word (profit) the last race i was at was when senior died in my opion there is always the same handful of drivers that dominate out of 43 cars by the way wheres my heroe dick trickle and dont say in your pants

Not putting Jr down but i think when his dad was around Jr ran better cuz his dad coached him and helped him, Jr has good equipment from Hendrick but his performance somtimes looks as if hes frustrated and doesnt know what to do and the crewchief doesnt really know how to adjust the car to accomadate him, Sr i think set Jrs thoughts and he listened, i bet during a race hes in the car asking himself what would my dad do in this situation.

The #3 was never officially retired in 2001.. It was decided that it wouldnt be run... that was it.. Jr ran it in the Busch race the following year.. and won at Daytona.. and Childress himself ran a black 3 for a lap before another race a couple years later..As far as Jr goes he is done with the 3 and I understand that.. he wants his own legacy.. Childress said last night he has no plans for the 3 to be run in the top level of Nascar.. as for his grandson.. I realize its a business, and fans really dominate what gets done.. I doubt they would be happy about anyone else running that car at the top level.. will we see any other runnings of the #3 as a tribute in the future? who knows.. will it come back full time? I doubt it.. its clear though that everyone wants to hate the whole Nascar thing so im done wasting time commenting on it..
