3 ways yes....but which is easiest? !

Oh yeah if you have a factory air breather remove it or it can dent the hood or scratch the breather. There is not much room in there. Looking through the hood on this 71 even the smaller 69 breather is real close. As the back goes down the front goes up

Truth be told, I don't need to remove the cap because my Dougs headers hang up on the steering almost immediately and support the engine. ....lol
But i will pull the cap anyways. ...

I pulled a C4 with nothing but a bumper jack. Stupid me got under there and discoed the trans, dropped it and then found out I had no clearance to drag the bell out so I pulled the convertor and unbolted the bell and slid the body out. That was in a girls 66 Mustang. Took the bell out and got it back in in 1 piece...used a taller bumper jack! I think my friend finally suggested that I put a few rims under there in case the thing came down on me......she didn't even thank me 'properly'! :-&
